As you said, it's a sad day for Argos fans, but it could turn into a happy day for Rider fans. Mitchell was supposedly the return the Riders would get for Kevin Glenn in the trade. Instead the Riders got a first round draft pick. Now that Mitchell has been released/waived, hopefully Shivers can get him in a Rider uniform, and it makes the trade look awesome, and the team look a whole lot better. If anyone can replace Matt Dominguez, it's Mookie. He and Moore would also give the Riders one of the best tandems of slotbacks in the CFL. Add in the Flory signing, and this has got alot of Rider Priders optimistic about next season, if he comes to Riderville, that is.

He's 32.You were probably thinking about a Blue jay player that used the nickname mookie as well

And they also released Michael Jenkins... http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/news_story.asp?id=84027

Why couldn't they trade these two if they were getting rid of them? Money issues? If not, they could have at least got some QB support for when Damon Allen retires.

I do not know why the Riders have not got either Jenkins or Mitchell. I am not to sure on Holmes being the full time guy and right now the receiving core looks very thin

Yep, and in this league, touchdowns are actually scored. No 9-6 field-goal fests here.

CFL rocks!!!

And that is why it owns!

I'd have to say that also. The Argos-Eskimos Grey Cup in the snow back when doug Flutie played for the argos was the best game I ever watched

If Holmes is the Riders' only option on TB, I wonder why they don't put Burris at starting QB, Butler at backup, and shift Greene over to tailback. Greene's obvious strength is the running game, and Burris easily has the better arm. If they added a receiver, and/or Shivers worked his magic again, they'd be all but set.

Avery is apparentely the best running back in the CFL.

He even played with the Minnesota Vikings last year. The Argos were pumping his signing as being as big as Flutie's or Rocket Ishmail's.

sad day my ass. if they wanted to keep him Edmonton would have Avery. Anyways, Edmonton now has the top 4 receivers in the cfl on the same team, and the best receiving corps of all time. I dont think you can really dispute this. Pringle will set the all time rushing yards record and Payton the all time sacks record this year, and Maas will bring home Edmontons 2nd grey cup while Toronto puts up another average season as their crappy ass 2nd rate qb will have nobody to pass to. it will be Avery all the time, and if he doesnt get hurt he will lose his effectiveness. In Edmonton he was one of many weapons. In Toronto he is the only weapon.

Your saying Payton has been cut lots and you call Allen elite? Allen on his game is still one of the worsts tarters in the league, Payton, when healthy, is the best pass rusher in the league. Also, Allen likely will be replaced by Bishop.

The Argos have Allen as the #1 QB, arguably the best QB in the CFL... and the heir apparent to Allen, Marcus Brady. Also, Tony Miles is a hell of a WR and Bashir Levingston is the top special teams player in the CFL.

The Argos are probably a favourite in the CFL for the upcoming season.

Danny Barrett Loves Nealon to much to do that. He should have been the one gone in the first place but what do I know :dunno:

Just like they have been 3 years in a row now. Allen is not arguably the best anything. The following are all clearly better.

Calvillo
Maas
Dickenson
Greene
Burris
Jones
Crandell
Joseph

You wont find many people to argue those. Others who could be better

Mcmanus
Brady
Glenn

You'll notice that every other starter in the league except one is clearly better, and one of the backups also is. Yet you say he is arguably the best. This isnt 1940 anymore, Damon Allen simply sucks.

Thank you for showing us all how much you know about the CFL.

When Damon Allen is healthy, he's one of the elite quarterbacks in the CFL.

That just simply isnt true. In BC where he was pretty healthy he was just average, now he just sucks. He may have the heart of a lion, but 20 years of football will slow you down.

The fact that you have Jason Maas, a guy who hasn't started in two years over Dave Dickenson shows just how little you know.

Maybe it's just me, or maybe he wasn't listing them in order.

But anyway, Maas is definetely not better than Damon Allen. When Allen's healthy, he's great. I'd say that only Dickenson, Calvillo, Burris, and maybe Joseph are better than him. Jones is also debatable, but I'd probably take the aging Allen over Jones.

Yeah, certainly wasnt in order. I'd take Greene over Maas, obviously Dickenson too. Khari Jones is much better than Allen. You guys dont get it. A healthy Damon Allen 10 years ago was elite. A healthy Damon Allen now isnt. Allen was healthy through most of his BC tenure, yet wasnt an all-star. In fact, Maas was the all-star ahead of him, as was Jones.

Now isn't Damon Allen around 500 yards off breaking Dan Marino's record for most passing yards in professional football history? How many "average" QB's can do that? :joker:

Just because he's average now doesnt mean he has had an average career. The guy should have retired 5 years ago. I honestly dont know why he sticks around. The guy had a great rep, and now is only tarnishing it. In fact, its too late for him. Even if he retired tomorrow, he'll still be regarded as someone who held on too long.
