A look at the 2002 prospects that need to be signed before the 1st of June to retain their rights. Also a prediction on whether or not each player will be signed.

Petrow had a surprisingly good year this year, it will be interesting to see what happens with him although I still can't see Anaheim signing him.

Fritshaw will be a UFA if he doesn't ink a contract, as he will be 21 before then end of the year. The other four will all have the option to re-enter the draft.

Yeah as I said in the other thread, Brent and Lee are the important guys to sign and Caron would be nice to sign as well. We can live without Fritshaw and Petrow.

If Brent is unsigned and re-enters the draft...in somewhat of a weak draft he could go as a late first round safe pick, someone who could step into the NHL in a year rather than picking someone who wont see the NHL for 3 or 4 years.

late first round might be a stretch, usually you only see re-entries chosen later in the draft then they were drafted before.

Either way, I plan to re-rank the top 20 and of the depth chart after this deadline passes. It will be interesting to see how everything fits together. There seems like there will be plenty of competition for jobs in the NHL (if there's a season) and the AHL next year.

Re:Fritshaw
He reminds me a bit of Cincy's Brookbank, but I don't know if we would have a place to put him. Brookbank still has another year left on his contract.
