To anyone who sees OHL games:
Can I get a comparison between Kyle Wharton and Nick Boynton from when he was in Ottawa. They are both D-men around the same size, Boynton was more of an offensive guy in juniors than Wharton is, but how do they compare, if at all? Anyone else that you would compare him to instead?

Ok...first off let me state I'm not high on Wharton like some. That being said, I know he's a good player.
Boynton is much more dynamic, especially in junior. When he was drafted, he put up a point a game, and was a physical force out there. Boynton is actually in a lot of ways very similar to Dion Phaneuf.
Wharton on the other hand is smooth, poised and calm. I've heard comparisons to Wade Redden, which isn't bad, but he's not that good. His outlet pass is quite good, but he rarely jumps into the play despite the tools to do so. He's got good size, but again, not really a physical factor. He looks bigger out there than Redden, especially the Redden in junior, who was a pipe cleaner. I'm having trouble thinking of a good comparison for Wharton, but he reminds me a bit of Paul Martin of the NJ Devils. Some of Wharton's playing style are reminiscent of Scott Hannan, but at this point he is not that physical or strong.

Yeah Boynton was a hell of a junior player, a dominating two way defenseman (although at times he was prone to making stupid mistakes in his own end).
