Would great Britian have a chance to make the olympics if they had decided to qualify??????????
I think that they very much should have tried to qualify, but it was not to be :p: :p: :shakehead :shakehead

They had a really nice Div1 showing this year and could have at least made things interesting. To not even try is shameful. Politics.

In all honesty, no. We had a real chance of getting through the first round (the group would have been France, Estonia and Croatia), but I think we would have struggled in the 2nd round (likely to have been Switzerland, Denmark and Japan since we would have been likely to have finished as the lowest ranked qualifier). We could have taken points off of both Japan and Denmark, but I couldn't see us getting past the Swiss.
But, we have never even qualified for the 2nd round before. To be given a chance to only be beaten by the Swiss was to be given a chance to show great progress and build hope for 2010.

Totally agree with this. If you read interviews from players who were in our Pool A campaign in the early 90's they say that playing against Kariya, Yashin et al helped them improve. Playing against better sides will help our players improve. To deny them that chance is shameful.
