no Havelid by the way.
Robertsson 4-ever 05-17-2004, 11:25 AM Påhlsson is a perfect depth player, reliable two-way center that always gets his job done. Was surprised with his work along the board during the World Champs, he won every battle! I've seen some games with him in Anaheim this year, and I know he is good (although having some problems with the offensive production), he has really developed in NA.
Kronblom 05-17-2004, 03:33 PM Samuel was one of Sweden's best players in the World Championships and received a lot of praises in the media.
Hockeyfan02 05-17-2004, 03:49 PM :handclap: :handclap: :handclap: Canada and USA are screwed with Sweden having God on their side.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 05-17-2004, 04:51 PM Pahlsson was the player of the game in the WC final for Sweden. If he could do better offensively, which I'm confident he can, he'd be a real force in the NHL.
cheesymc 05-17-2004, 05:21 PM I'm happy for Sami, this is a guy who was a drafted steal for Colorado who was a bluechip in a great farm system. Then he was traded for a legend in Bourque, when he arrived to the ducks, he was almost viewed as a bust. I dont think he was a character type of player before, but now hes one of the hardest working, consistent performer. If he improves his shot, he can definitely get 12-18 goals in a season on a top line, but I wouldnt call him a "force", just a good performer. He plays tough, although hes no fighter and he just has above average abilities and great awareness. Hes definitely going to get a chance next yr on the top 2 lines if the ducks dont sign any big bodies up front.
cheesymc 05-17-2004, 05:28 PM If only the other Euros could have at least been as good as Sami....
Jorgen- considered always as a top performer for SEL, always represents his Nation for tourneys it seems...
Niemi - considered a top defensive player for Finland, if he was like 2 inches taller and 20-30lbs bigger he would definitely play for the ducks. hes just too small be a physical force and for a small player hes too one dimensional.
Davidson- this guy is considered the best player on the current SEL Championship team... that isnt too shabby....
Timo- Where did someone find that he was the Finland MVP? Most Finish Leagues are in Finnish so I cant read that....
other notables:Tenkrat
I dont know, its good to see that the ducks have drafted or traded for achieving talent outside of the NHL, but its also disappointing that they havent drafted productive players outside of Kariya (Salei is solid but no one knows about him)
Hey does anyone know what happend to Dan Trebil? I remeber he got hyped up in his 1st yr then disappeared just like Trnka the yr after...
Randall Graves* 05-17-2004, 08:09 PM With god on their side theres no way Sweden should lose, Although the chzechs with Satan may give them a good battle.

Sami went AWOL a while back and many thought he would never play in the NHL again. If he has a great year next year, where maybe he gets a bit of Selke consideration, the Masterson is his unless Vladdy Konstantinov comes back and wins the Norris.
Kevin Forbes 05-17-2004, 09:09 PM Masterson?
he might be Anaheim's candidate, but it's not his by any means, there are plenty of tougher times other players have went through. Pahlsson quitting on Cincy and planning on flying to Europe until he gets called up to Anaheim isn't something I would honor with a Masterson.

Not when you look at it that way. While he did go to Europe because he was tired of the AHL, he's overcome alot of odds to get this far, and like I said, if he had a Selke year, he'd get quite alot of consideration. There hasn't been many huge comeback stories lately, and, as you may notice, the likely Masterson winner is probably Alexandre Daigle, who left the NHL for an acting career and came back with a 50 point year.
Kevin Forbes 05-17-2004, 09:59 PM key difference
when Daigle left, the season was over and he wasn't under contract
A Masterson to Pahlsson over that incident would be the equivalent of a Masterson for Yashin when he took his time off.

The key difference there is that Yashin is expected to be a superstar, and many didn't think Pahlsson would be more than a 4th liner/extra for the rest of his NHL career.
The point is that it'd be a huge comeback to go from possible NHL status to Selke contender. I don't think they would vote for someone else just because why he was out of the NHL.
Kevin Forbes 05-17-2004, 10:17 PM I dunna
personally, I think him quitting on the team and basically not playing unless it was in the NHL, that tarnishes any chance of over-coming adversity to me.
