Looks like St. Louis is sitting out a year while a new facility is being built. Hope to see them back next year that is an excellent sports/hockey town!

I wouldn't be surprised to see them stay out of the league for longer than a year unfortunately. They might even end up moving to another town as there might just be too much competition in the area for them to thrive (ie. NHL, possible NCAA etc.).

The dispersal draft is scheduled for today I believe.

The dispersal draft was postponed today. USHR.com thinks that this means the St. Louis franchise has been sold. Thier sources say the team might be moving to Detroit.

I'm not sure that's a smart move, but we'll see what happens before I give my opinion.

Do you know where I can get information on this... specifically the new facility that they're building?

It just seems kind of surprising. No brand of minor hockey has ever worked out here. The Missouri River Otters of the UHL jush finished up what is supposed to be their last season here. The St Louis Sting was a junior team that used to play here They lasted a while but, they're gone. I guess what I'm getting at here is that I'm surprised to hear that a they'd be spending the money to build a facility.

If I remember right, the place I saw it was USHL.Com. The info. might still be somewhere on that site's news archives.

The plan was to build the new facility in conjunction with Lindenwood University (Lindenwood is possibly going NCAA Div.1). It would be located in St. Charles. I don't know much more than that.

They were supposed to build a new facility in Wentzville. I drove by what I think is the proposed site last week and there was no kind of construction going on.

Never heard anything about Lindenwood College. Their womens team plays at the Family Arena in St. Charles, about two miles from the campus.

Can someone tell me what ended up happening to the St Louis franchise? I see that they're not listed as a team on the USHL website and the West division is lacking a team, but I also don't see a Detroit team.

It is my understanding that St. Louis is taking a year off and will be back in the USHL in the future. They do not have a team right now, which is why they are not listed on ushl.com this season. Where did the Detroit thing come from? There wasn't a team in Detroit last season and I never heard plans of having a team in Detroit this season either, which would explain why you couldn't find one.

The USHR.com article I was referencing is available in their free archives. Go to May 2004 and scroll down to the two bits on 5/10 and one on 5/7.

I had heard from the people in the NAHL that St. Louis has a strong possiblity to be back in the NAHL next year. They had a team 2 years ago and moved to Springfield.

IF anyone knows any possibility of the following, please PM me:

-St Louis getting NCAA Div 1 team near the city
-UHL MO River Otters closing (they draw some good crowds)
-Possibility of getting our Jr team back

Thank you in advance

They're staying here too :yo:

or were you referring to the Jr. Blues? I only moved to Spfld this year, but I know that JVIP is only 3-4 years old...
