Game 3 WCF 2nd period Ducks leading 1-0.

I am not sure how good your memories are of the Ducks cup run last year but I was watching this last night and one play really puzzled me and I can't figure out why the play was stopped.

Rucchin or Kariya (can't remember) took a shot directly in front of the goal about 3 metres in front that hit the crossbar and rebounded off the boards behind the goal and trickled back into the crease, at this point the whistle was blown just as Leclerc tapped in the goal. They never said what happened. Can anyone remember (or guess)? This has been bugging me all day. Thanks if you can help.

Too tired and drunk to answer this right now (though I do have the game on tape somwhere...)

If I had to guess it would probably be cause the puck hit the netting.

I remember that play...I think it must have hit the netting above the boards behind the goal or something...

Here's a link to the play-by-play of the second period on ESPN's site (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/gameLog?gameId=230514025&period=2).

At the 4:34 mark, Ruccin shoots the puck, and it goes into the netting at 4:37. At any rate, you can look through it to verify the reason for the stoppage.
