Calder Trophy = Marcel Goc

i have questioned any success in the NHL before and i still do. he has not the attitude to play NHL on 3rd/4th and not the skills to be a 2nd liner.

but i'd be happy if he'd prove me wrong.

I could never understand why everybody is so high on him - but I too would have absolutely no problem if he would prove me wrong. ;)

And I could never understand how someone could doubt his skills and his attitude ;)

I've never seen him take a game off, he always tried, even if things weren't going his way.

Congrats Marcel

I think Goc did the best thing and went to the US, were he has to prove himself and is not just looked at as the highest German drafted. Played a very good consistent season (in which getting stronger in the later parts of the season) in Cleveland otherwise he would not have the chances to play playoffs now.
I really think Goc can develop into a very good two way player and possibly produce similar numbers to Hecht and Sturm, he has the skills to do that. We should not judge him on his time in Mannheim were he was just a role player not being able to develop.

- their was a reason why SJ picked him 20th overall in 2001

- he was incredible this season in Cleveland...thier best player all season long!

- You can't forget how to play the game within two years. :shakehead

- everbody who says Goc will suck in NA has no hunch what it's all about.

yes, it was skills, skills, skills. i don't question his skills, i question his attitude.

i know and it made me smile. honestly i was very surprised, but it's not that i don't want him to succeed, it's just that i have some doubts.

i've seen him play a lot here in kassel and i followed him very closely. even in his high scoring season in schwenningen, i rarely noticed him on ice. scoring is one part of hockey but not everything.

i don't say that he'll suck, but i fear he'll suck because of what i've seen. and i talked with him a few times after games and my impression wasn't as good as i had hoped. nevertheless i would love to see him succeed.

but what do i do here? you say i don't know what hockey is all about and so i'll be quiet. :(

i don't want to say that you don't know anything about hockey. If you felt that way I'm sorry. :)

Goc defenetly has an NHL future. He is good in faceoffs and a nice passer. He can creat a chance and is a good setup man. The best thing about him is his strong 2-way play.
Right now he looks like a great 3rd liner, think of Mike Ricci.
All that comes above that is a plus. He may even end up being a good 2nd line C.

Next year might allready tell IF Damphouse and Ricci are not back, since their contracts run out. If they are not, bet on it, Goc will be in SJ. He might actually be if they are there or not.

He's playing very well below the circles in his own end. He does not have to bruise just be in position.I believe he's the only player left from the 2003 World Juniors still contributing. Pitkanen is a healthy scratch.
