Hits are a significant indication of character in hockey. Body contact. Players willing to give them, or take them, in an effort to make a play are worth their weight in gold at playoff time.

Zeroing in on him during last Tuesday's game, yours truly counted seven solid hits that St. Louis dished out. And just as important, he took nine. Pretty much all in equal proportion, too: in his own end, the neutral zone, and the offensive zone.

While most of it was same ol' same ol', I liked this little nugget of info. That's something people have certainly underrated in their praise of Marty. He's not just skating circles around everyone..
