My prediction: 3-2 Canada

2-2 Canada always has problems with Germany.

I don't usually do this but what the hell why not. Since everyone knows they play Canada tough I'm gonna say 4-0 Canada :D . Since most expected them to pounce all over the other teams but didn't, they will pounce on Germany because most expect it to be a very close game.

If Kolzig is in the nets then it will be 2-2 if not then 4-2

i don't think it's so hard to play 2 games in 2 days. but team germany isn't willing to fight today. they look like figure skaters.
and austria were tired yesterday? ehm...not really. it's just that if you take out vanek, there's not enough left to play top10 hockey, although i like what austria did the last years and there are some nice guys. but it's too early for austria, in a few years it should be different.

Agreed, he is a good player when playing on top of his game. However, his season is Sweden was terrible. There are some loose rumours he'll sign with another SEL team but I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to the DEL or NLA.

The one problem i have with Zach is that he feels Kunce can handle some of the worlds top players. Kunce seems to lose his mind playing Canada and take many penalties. Why Zach does him the disservice of playing against Heatley i have no idea.

Canada is playing much better today. Heatley's goal was awesome.

wouldn't it be time to pull kolzig and bring in whoever is backup (i guess mueller)? not that the goals were his fault, altho he should have saved at least two, but he should be sick of the defense by now and this is not the best thing when you want to prevent goals.

i totally agree. kunce shouldn't be on that team. he interfered kolzig on goal 1, maybe olie would have saved it otherwise.

horrible defensive play by Germany, like freeking youth team. If Canada would push up another gear they would score 10 goals plus. Our goal difference is really gonna stink after this game which means we need to beat the Swiss. If we play like today no chance of doing that.

Love Benda and he's been good but i think Ehrhoff, Seidenberg and Schubert will give the team a more mobile and better puck moving effort in September. Leask, Retzer, Kunce will be fighting for a spot or two. Not sure about Molling and i'm fine with Ludemann. Will Zach change to a more up tempo game with more talent at his disposal?

Yeah in defense there need to be changes. Seids and Erhoff would really give this team a nice addition and Sascha Goc and Schubert could not do worse than Molling Leask and Kunce. Luedemann also has had better tournaments
There are just to many 3rd liners playing for our team, we are lacking speed and skill. Goc and Sturm would be able to provide that. But I think we have to live with these players for now. I hope next year maybe Zach gives some of our young defenders the chance to prove themselves, even so they still may lack experience.

If only Soccio hadn't retired right before the WC. He may be old, but he is still one of the better scorers in Germany. Losing Hynes and Sascha Goc hurt, too.

Where is Sasha? Soccio was an excellent player and could no doubt still contribute.

He is ill, or at least he was before the tournament.
He missed some games because of the flu and it didn't get better, although he returned for some games in the playoffs. He decided to stay at home until he has completely recovered.

At least that's what I heard. Someone from Mannheim should know...

I couldn't understand why our coach Zach has nominated Kunce,Smazal and Molling......Martin Walter,Alexander Sulzer,Lasse Kopitz are much better and younger.

Kunce and Molling just don't have it. I like Sulzer more than Walter if he's in shape. Walter plays a pretty steady game though, not as physical as Kunce and Sulzer but without the pure stupidity of Kunce. Kunce means well he just is not top level.
