Russia vs. USA
--------------------------------
My prediction: 4-3 Russia
This could be quite entertaining. A very important game for both teams.
montreal 04-30-2004, 09:43 PM Anyone know if this will be on tv in the US?
Dropkick Alex 04-30-2004, 10:50 PM geez, Russia right away...well if USA wins this game it proves that we our true contenders
Rabid Ranger 05-01-2004, 03:37 AM Tough to call this one. I think the U.S. has the ability to win this game, but it will come down to keeping the puck out of their own net. I predict a fairly high scoring affair in the U.S.'s favor: 5-3.
clefty 05-01-2004, 04:47 AM 3-2 is my guess, though I'm not sure which team will win.
VanCanuck 05-01-2004, 08:02 AM There are photos of each players on

USA 4 Russia 2
SIBIR 05-01-2004, 08:08 AM 3-1 Russia ... last chance for Sbornaja
Panopticon 05-01-2004, 08:20 AM I pray to god that Russia wins. If USA wins Finland will have a tough time to get to the quarterfinals.
EDIT: No, wait, I mean I hope that USA wins.
Simagin 05-01-2004, 01:49 PM 3 : 2 USA
canucksfan 05-01-2004, 03:32 PM 3-1 Russia
Foppa_Rules 05-01-2004, 03:37 PM It's 1-0 USA right now....boooooo....
Rabid Ranger 05-01-2004, 03:40 PM Looks like the U.S. is carrying play early on. 10 shots already in the 1st period, with Dustin Brown scoring for a 1-0 U.S. advantage.
Foppa_Rules 05-01-2004, 03:42 PM Shots are now 12-5 in USA's favor.
Rabid Ranger 05-01-2004, 03:57 PM Russia coming on. Shots are now even at 15 for each team. Conklin playing well for the U.S.
Foppa_Rules 05-01-2004, 04:05 PM Shots are 16-15 USA's lead at the end of the second period.
Simagin 05-01-2004, 04:26 PM 1 - 1 Yushkevich :jump:
Kaizer 05-01-2004, 04:42 PM 2-1. Bashkirov on PP. Redirect from Guskov shot.
Safir* 05-01-2004, 04:50 PM Guskov.
Second assist of the night.:D
Foppa_Rules 05-01-2004, 04:59 PM How has Ovechkin looked? Has he done anything?
Slick Nick 05-01-2004, 05:09 PM How has Ovechkin looked? Has he done anything?
A friend said he was the best player on the ice in the first and second period. He also praised Yashin's play.
VPEREEEED
It's 1-0 USA right now....boooooo....
boo?
Kaizer 05-01-2004, 05:43 PM 2-3 SHG by Drury, but it was Grier who created this goal.
Kaizer 05-01-2004, 05:47 PM It's all over. Russia - USA 2-3.
Peter25 05-01-2004, 05:51 PM What a nightmare tournament for Russia. They just canīt catch a break.
And their defense sucks. Tverdovsky looks like a minor leaguers now. Yushkevich is slow and the rest of them are no-names with slow feet and poor puckhandling skills.
RSL just doesnīt have any good defensemen.
SwisshockeyAcademy 05-01-2004, 06:00 PM I am no US hockey fan but congrats to the guys who have showed up for their country. I hope they aren't forgotten when its time for selection for World Cup and especially in Torino 2006.
Rabid Ranger 05-01-2004, 06:03 PM Chris Drury!   Just another clutch goal to add to his collection. Anyway, great win for the U.S., and in response to the above post, certain players will get consideration for the World Cup team, namely Drury, Mara, Miller, and Mike Dunham.
Predatore 05-01-2004, 06:05 PM I was just about to post a thread with a poll "which team will miss the quarterfinals", but with this loss it is more or less decided that it is going to be Russia.
The only team Russia can get passed by is USA .. and then finish 4th in the group. However Russia has only Finland left to play while USA will take on both Sweden and Denmark.
Foppa_Rules 05-01-2004, 06:05 PM Another game for Ovechkin without a point. I must be unlucky. Forsberg is facing elimination and doesn't have a point in several games and Ovechkin is losing too and doesn't have a point in 4 games.
Panopticon 05-01-2004, 06:06 PM Chris Drury!   Just another clutch goal to add to his collection. Anyway, great win for the U.S., and in response to the above post, certain players will get consideration for the World Cup team, namely Drury, Mara, Miller, and Mike Dunham.
I'm liking what I've seen from Richard Park so far.
Ziggy Stardust 05-01-2004, 06:14 PM For anyone who saw the game, how did Dustin Brown look and how has his performance been thus far in the World Championships. Also, is he playing a role on the top two lines or is seeing limited ice time on the checking lines?
Thanks in advance for the info, great to see one of the Kings top future forwards playing a role in the big win today.
Markov 05-01-2004, 06:29 PM Why does it seem like every year is a disappointment for Russia? :shakehead

Bless you. :handclap: I missed the last 5 minutes of the game because my stomach started acting up and my bathroom break took longer than intended.
Conando 05-02-2004, 02:46 AM Hey Rabid Ranger...Ty Conklin has started the bulk of the games for Team USA, not Dungham
http://live82.ihwc.net/english/teams/statistics.ihwc?team=USA
The GAA are virtually the same but Conklin does have the better individual (save percentage) stats

It will be interesting to see who gets the start against Sweden. Whatever the case, both goalies have played well, and IMO Dunham, with his experience will probably get a slot as one of the three U.S. goalies for he World Cup.
Peter25 05-02-2004, 10:54 AM USA's second and third goal were illegal. Why is Russia always screwed by the referees?
I canīt honestly remember a game where Russia has benefitted from refereeing. They always seem to be on a losing side.
Somebody should beat the crap out of that Schindler!

Russia's first one and USA's second goal could have been called off. There was nothing wrong with the Drury's game winning goal.
