Wow these Group F games are going to be pretty fun to watch. I wish I got to watch them...instead all I get is Canada whipping Group E  at least the Czechs are there.

Slovakia wins 4-2.

Hossa with a pair, Gaborik and Satan.

A strong Slovakian squad versus a jumble of NHLers and EuroLeague players plus a shaky goalie. I'd take the Slovaks, 4-2.

Second goal was illegal, because we had six players on ice, but nobody noticed this fact. Anywaz, we were little bit better and Russians did not score.

A question for those following Slovakia closely. Is the top line Gaborik-Demitra-Hossa or did they distribute it differently for depth?

Gaborik10

The lines for the last few games have been:

(1) Gaborik-Stumpel-Satan
(2) Bartecko-Demitra-Hossa
(3) Petrovicky-Pavlikovsky-Orszagh
(4) Kolnik-Kukumburg-Kapus

And in the last game the defensive pairings were:
(1) Strabak-Cierny
(2) Lintner-Chara
(3) Majesky-Meszaros

These lines have so far been a very good combo if skill, disipline, and grit....they shut down the Russians with air-tight defense and capitallized on their opportunities. So far, so good. And Lasak has also been extremely good.

I would hope the only reason Hossa's on the second line is for depth. He owns Satan.

Gaborik10

Actually, Gaborik has played well with Satan in the past....perhaps Frantisek Hossa just put him on second for depth, that's most likely. Gaborik has 3 goals, 1 assist, Hossa has 2 goals, 3 assists.

Why is Chara on the 2nd pairing? :dunno: he is a potential norris trophy winner.

Chara is on the second line in my opinion due to 2 things:

To be on a line with Hossa, his teammate from Ottawa, and to backstop offensive D Lintner, who attacks a lot.

Gaborik10

Hossa isn't supposed to be the leader...he's supposed to score and help the team win, which he has. So far everybody has played great, it's good to see such a small country succeed like that...I look at the square miles of that place, and I wonder how on earth can so many good, hardworking players come from that small a place!! Bondra, Hossa, Gaborik, Chara, Palffy, Stumpel, Satan, Demitra, Handzus....
