Wow, what a player, this is a guy you want on the ice at every important moment in the game. I was always high on him even when he struggled at times (had him in like every hockey keeper league lol). I would have died for the Caps to have gotten him some way, but it's great for you guys that you kept him.

I might be one of the few Capitals fans that are hoping for the Lightning to do well, but good luck and hopefully you can be the first team to win the cup in the Southeast division.

I'll go further than Fanatic...I love Vinny!!! Great guy, great player. I just hope someday he gets more consistency, then he'd be perfect. ;)

This run is great for the lightning and good for hockey in the south.

We can have some crazy matchups in a year or 2 in this division.

I missed an interview this evening on the locl news here in Montreal and it was with the parents of Lecavalier and St Louis.

I don't know who's parents it was (I missed the beginning) but one of the parents were saying how it was always about the Habs, but now they had to root for their son and Lightning. It was really funny because it almost sounded as though the mom was still cheering for the Habs, but wished her son lots of luck.

Thought you might enjoy because I figured it wasn't very likely you heard of this since it was a very local job

yeah.. i saw Marty St Louis parents show a picture of Marty when he was younger (in a habs junior jersey). They mentioned on the broadcast that St Louis wears #26 because of Mats Naslund. Vinny also wears his #4 for Jean Beliveau.

That is one of the important aspects of southern hockey. While we are trying to create our own history we respect the history of the sport.

I love the way Vinny play, he just passed by quickly and eliminated the Habs in 4 games.

But some Montreal habs fans are very angry and they hate Vinny Lecavalier. I don't know why, maybe because he is a quebecois and they hate quebecois players. Strange, the Habs franchise history is full loaded of great québecois heroes (Béliveau, Richard, Geoffrion, Lafleur, Roy). I think that now lot of Habs fans have a complex about québecois players. Maybe because of the politics.

The reason why they booed him was because he's a top player for the Bolts.. They also booed St-Louis.

There isn't a rivalry between both teams.. and i'm sure most habs fans would totally cheer for Vinny and Marty against teams like the Leafs and Bruins :)

They may not outright hate him but some of them seem to have a distaste to the point where they severely underrate his trade value among other things. I think it's because they still secretly have a hard-on for seeing him in a Habs jersey and it just eats them up inside that he's succeeding in what they perceive to be hockey no man's land, knocking their team out in the process. I don't blame these francophiles, but that seems rather petty. I mean they're saying he's not even a good person, like he's some extremely dirty player like Tie Domi or Darcy Tucker or something!

I think that's just a vocal minority though. Leph28's take on it is probably what the vast majority of Montreal fans are thinking.

Vinny is hated by most of the MTL fans because he is not on there team. I have a few MTL fans and they don't like vinny because he is not a hab!

A simple test, if Marty and Vinny were Habs, would they be hated? I think not. This goes to show that they do not hate the players, but hate the situation.
