My prediction: 7-0 Russia

The Japanese players are disappointed because of the loss against Denmark and will probably not even have 10 shots on goal. Kovalchuk with another two goals and Oleg Tverdovsky scores once. That is my prediction! :)

...And it's a 6-1 final. :jump:

With an eye focused on the Qualifying Round, Russia soundly thrashed Japan, whose next test comes in the Relegation Round. Led by Maxim Afinogenov, who scored a goal and added an assist, Russia now heads into the next round brimming with confidence.

There would be no shocking upsets today. Forget your talk of miracles. This would not be like the 1976 World Championships in Katowice, Poland when the home team shocked the Soviet Union 6-4. And no matter how you study up on the greatest upsets in the history of the IIHF World Championships, there was little doubt, two minutes into the game that this would not be one of them.
