Quenneville will miss the tournament because of extreme exhaustion and is returning home...

Babcock or the other assisant will replace him...

Babcock led Team Canada to their last WJC gold in '97...

Would be interesting to see how Babcock's defensive style play would work on the offensive world stage...and if he could get the team's respect...

But if the coach is Babcock...Giguere is the starter...I'd make that bold prediction.

I hope not, Luongo deserves to be the starter over Giguere
Luongo won them gold last year, hopefully Babcock isn't that stupid

Babcock was named head coach and Renney is now "associate coach"

Babs coaches to his talent. He won't implement a defensive system with a team of All-Stars, and he won't start Giguere simply based on favoritism. In fact, he's probably not going to make any changes on the eve of the first game. Give him a bit more credit than that.

Congratulations to him, though.

Favoritism or not, it's quite possibly Jiggy and Luongo go 50/50. Mainly because while Luongo is a great goalie, and Jiggy has shown he can be superhuman when he plays after the end of the regular season. Also, if Luongo's first two games don't go over well, Jiggy's gonna get his chance.

I would start Luongo over Jigger, and I think Babs will too.

But it's pointless to start Luongo every game, unless Jiggy really sucks. And if Jiggy plays better than Luongo in the games he plays, then it makes a bit more sense to start him over Luongo.
