Jshibley 04-23-2004, 09:47 PM From the hockey news:
"Bjorn Melin, 22, LW (Anaheim).
Taken 163rd overall by the Islanders, Melin was traded to Anaheim in 2002. He has 3 goals and 11 assists in 18 sweedish league playoff games for HV-71 Jonkoping."
Not that this guy has a chance with the ducks, but thought i would pass that along, i was wondering what that guy was doing.

Just wondering if you had some info on Melin?
Kevin Forbes 04-24-2004, 09:19 PM nothing more then what's there really...He'll be 24 in July which will make him no longer a prospect. Anaheim doesn't seem to have much interest in him, and with all our forward depth, even signing him for Cincy wouldn't be worth it (case in point: The Cory Pecker transfer so he can have some playing time).
That being said, he has been so close to breaking out for a while, that this could be his coming out party. Unfortunately, I can't see him being a Duck.
Robertsson 4-ever 04-25-2004, 04:08 AM Melin have been playing some seasons now without getting his breakout, but maybe it came in the playoffs this year. He was the best players in the SEL finals, he is big and strong, and has learned to cover the puckl with his body. His skating is though not good, but in the playoffs he used his body instead, and he is har to get the puck off. As the matter of fact, all hockey fans talked about Melin during the final series.
And as we know, he is born 1981, only 23 this year, and power forwards take some time to develop. I've never seen Melin as a NHL player, much because his skating, but what he showed in the playoffs changed my opinion a bit. But, it was just a series, he has to show more over a long time, but don't give him up.
Chistov23 04-25-2004, 01:30 PM While on the topic of prospects we don't hear much about, anyone have info on Vladimir Korsunov?? I think we should bring him over for cinnci next year, they are already short on D so why not see what he has.

probably easier just to sign our CHL D-man prospects for Cincy for next year rather than trying to bring Korsunov over...(Brian Lee, Francois Caron, Nathan Saunders)

He's only played in 2 of the games. No points, even rating, one shot.
Robertsson 4-ever 04-26-2004, 10:20 AM Another question, is there any place for Jonathan Hedström on Anaheim's checking line next year?
He is currently playing in the World Championships for Sweden, on the same line as Samuel Påhlsson. They have looked really good together in the pre-games. We will see how good they are together tomorrow when Sweden face their first quality opponent, Russia. Hedström may not be the fastest skater, but he plays a though and hard game, and have a good shot wich he have shown several times in the National Team and SEL this year.
As I understand Anaheim wouldn't pay him what he wanted last year, besides he will probably want a one-way contract, but I understand Anaheim won't do that. He is better than Michael Holmqvist IMO.
Kevin Forbes 04-26-2004, 10:57 AM he didn't get much of a chance last year and never showed anything to deserve a one-way contract. Then he returned to Europe.
If he wants to come back, he'll be in the same situation he was in when he left, no guarantee, go to camp like everyone else. There's plenty of competition for the 3rd and 4th lines in Anaheim, so I wouldn't think the Ducks are crying over losing him

What could speak for Hedström is the fact he is a good fit for 3rd line center Påhlsson. Personally, I don't understand why Hedström left NA, he had a great chance to break the lineup this season IMO. Now, as you say, he probably won't get another chance.
Kevin Forbes 04-27-2004, 07:45 PM I don't think he has much interest in returning to North America anytime soon either, just signed a deal with Timra.
