Game 1 vs. MTL

While I don't typically like pointless prediction threads, for entertainment purposes, how would you like to see Game 1 end?

I say both Khabby and Theo play marvelous games, fending off countless scoring chances and odd-man rushes, to force overtime at, say, 1-1. After an early two many men on the ice penalty (served, of course, by Dimitry Afanasenkov for the 296th time this year), Tim Taylor and Affy find themselves on a 2-on-1, and Affy finally finds his finishing touch.

Or a 6-0 blowout. Either way.

I'd like to see a 6-0 blow out in overtime. THAT would be entertaining

I'm just interested to see how each team has handled the break between games. That age old question of whether it's better to be rested (and maybe, rusty), or to play straight through. Both teams have had a few days' rest so I guess that doesn't matter as much, but I'll be interested to see if a team comes out flat. Montreal was horrible for Game 1 against Boston so definitely don't want to see that happen again! Good luck to both teams and let's have a good game tonight! None of this garbage like Ottawa-Toronto Game 5.

That would make for a very interesting game, but it seems like every time I'm expecting to see a goaltending duel, it NEVER works out that way. :)

I think that TB meant in regulation he would like to see a 6-0 blowout- which i think would be very nice. However, I also think that it will be a tight checking game b/c both teams are fast and will try to nullify that speed. It will be interesting to see how both teams have handled the lay-off and how they respond tonight. Nice post Legolas- I expect a great series.

Who expects a wide open game tonight? I think Montreal will play a tighter checking game...Julien doesn't like to just let them loose, with the exception of the Koivu line. By that I mean, everyone talks about how much speed both teams have, but I expect a more grinding type game in Game 1 because both teams are feeling each other out. Not that I wouldn't mind some end-to-end action.

I think that b/c of the weeklong layoff, plus the fact that the 1st period is the Bolts' best period, TB will be flying, but MTL will find their feet by the end of the 1st. After that, I think you're probably right about the grind-it-out type of game. I think we all hope it's wide open hockey, though.

I tend to agree with you Legolas, While I have not seen the Habs a lot this year, in watching the series against Boston it appeared that Julien only let the koivu line take off. Actually the 2nd period has been the Bolts best period so far in the playoffs, so it will be interesting to see how this goes. Methinks the Bolts will be tight, so a tight checking game is best for them at the start then open it up as they go along. I think both coaches will want to see what match-ups they are getting before they let the reins off. In terms of strategic moves this will be a real chess game.

Well, actually, I think it is because only Koivu's line was really able to take off. Normally, our second line would have produced a lot more but they failed to do so against the much physically stronger Bruins.

The Bolts will be in great shape tonight, they had a 5 game series that might have been less energy-draining than the Habs/Bruins series which was intense and long. Especially since the Habs player took much of the beatings. The Bolts will flatout dominate the first ten minutes, but the Habs will finally manage to slow down the pace and we'll have an almost even match-up for the remaining of the game. That's how I see this game going.

Your link doesn't work, though I'd imagine I probably don't want to hear it, whatever it is.

Is that some kind of "reverse-mojo" avatar or something?
