Martin St.Louis is from a city called Laval, which is an island just north of Montreal. However it's not really a very normal city since it doesn't have anything that could be described as "downtown". Instead, the island of Laval is composed of many self-sufficient and independent villages with their own center, commerce, etc. The people from Laval usually identify themselves to their village instead of to Laval.
Martin St.Louis' village is called "Sainte-Dorothee", which is in the south-west of the island of Laval, on the shore of a river that separates Laval from Montreal.
On this map, you can see the location of Sainte-Dorothee where the number 16 is. Beyond the south shore is Montreal while to the north is mainland Quebec:
