Marc Savard had 52 points (19 goals, 33 assists) this year, despite missing 36 games due to injuries.

Savard led ALL NHL players with at least 41 games with an average of 1.16 points per game.

Yes but hes still a little punk. Also his other stats arent exactly great -

-8 (1.16 a game, yet hes still a minus)
85 pims (he isnt fighting so they are just bad penalties)
5'10 195 lbs (far from a large player and he isnt physical either, maybe sneaky)
22:19 (plenty of ice on a weak team like Atlanta)

I think id rather not have him. York made him expendable so naturally a couple of seasons later we trade York when we have no replacement and he is anything but expendable.

How dare you not remember that we got the one, the only, Jan Hlavac in return! OK, it was the Rangers #1 pick and Savard for Clagary's #1 and Hlavac....turned out to be Hlavac/Lundmark and Pat Aufiero for Savard/Saprykin ...

savard and our 1st to calgary for their 1st (lundmark) and hlavac, looked pretty good at the time.

A punk I would take on this team any day of the week and install him as the #1 center with no questions asked....Somehow, I get the feeling you didn't watch too much of Savard this past year because the only thing he could be knocked for were his injuries......When healthy, Savard was on the PP, manning the PK, the top Face-off guy, and leading the forwards in ice time....His coach, teamates and fans love him and depend on him down in Atalnta...he's a cocky player, sneaky dirty (which is fine by me) and a painn in the arse to play against......To top it all off, there are few better passers in the entire league..God, how I would love to have him back and dishing the puck off to Jagr....

When the Rangers dealt him, he was still pretty much inmature and York did indeed make him dealable...But to have both are even just one today...Oh well, life in Rangerland..

The kid can flat out play the game. May not be a big man, but he plays hard and as a little guy, being a little dirty is fine by me.

He's a point producing player plain and simple. Just under a point every .75 games. has 199 assists in 421 games played.

Had he been able to stay healthy, he would be real close to Big Joe Thornton.

In 88 less games he has 117 points less, a healthy Savard over the same period cust that number by anywhere between 50-65 points.

I would love to get this kid back in a NY Rangers uniform.

I remember a game years ago when they had the Ref mike'd and they showed him telling Gretz to talk to Savard about all the bad penalties!

Before I said :banghead: Sather I had mentiond the York for Poti trade. I know Smith was the guy who did the Hlavac/Savard trade. I rememer when he was here he p****** off his teamates by going around the dressin room with t-shirts saying "little guy" or something on and was generally disliked by the veteran players. 85 pims is still a lot of pims if your not fighting. I have not seen him play much this season but when he was here he was a little immature punk according to his teamates and the press.

He was a bit immature and selfish but he was a real slick playmaker. Do we have one?

he had a nice wrist shot was a competitor and was a very good passer. Scored 6 (or 7 I believe) goals in preseason, but couldn't make the roster of the Rangers. Came up, and was the team's best center (ahead of TGO). Every winger excelled with him and subsequently went with TGO. I don't care much about his +/-. Kovalchuk was a -10, and I think you'd take him on your team. He's also not a fighter and had 63 PIMs, not quite Savvy level, but not too low. I have no explanation for that. Perhaps he had a couple 10 minute misconducts in there. Perhaps there are some coincidentals in there too. I dunno, but the Rangers could use a center like him. Jagr would love him.

Savard can play for my team any day. He was an arrogant little guy, but he could play the game! It seems like he's matured himself as well as his game, and we should be the ones reaping the benefit.

those are weak things to bring up, i'd still take him over most of what we've got

I just pointed ou his less desirable stats. Hes better then most players on this team but thats not saying much.

I understand he has talent, just pointing out he can also be a liability. But with all stats youll make what you want out of them.
