I'm surprised they even invited Dunham.

that list isn't the full team...they've named 17 guys so far, and will name a total of 24 before the tourney starts (they are keeping spots open in case cause who get eliminated in the 1st round become candidates)

the US has a legit shot at the thing.

Poti probably was invited, but for some reason declined. I wouldn't be surprised if it revolved around his health problems which aren't easily managed in a "foreign" environment.

God help our country if Mike Dunham is the best goalie we have in the entire United States.

thats very possible, but it would have nothing to do with his allergies cause he had no problem playing in europe/asia in past tournaments...but he has had problems with his back for the last 2-3 months. maybe he was adviced to go home and just rest till it heals up

As much as I hate that kid your right.

A couple of my friends played hockey on the rink with him while he was in the minors... they said he is a major jerk. He wont give autographs to little kids or talk to any of the hockey players.... figures.... those are the people born with great talent :banghead:

Wow I hate guys like that. Look at all the Rangers who always sign autographs and are nice people and dont get anything to show for it. :dunno:

I'd still think Esche would be the front runner.

Rick DiPietro easily has the brighter future... most potential.

But it'll probably be 1a and 1b in the future.

I don't think Dunham and Conklin are a bad tandem to have at the World Championships.

World Championships, no.

World Cups, yes.

Dunham played well in the Olympics, and has been better than not at the NHL level, so while he's not my #1 option, he has experience, and would probably fair well on a good team. Personally, I think he'll be on the U.S. World Cup squad with Esche and DiPietro, with Esche getting the nod as the number 1.

Didn't Richter play in the Olympics?

Dunham started one of the early games. Then Richter took over and played out the stretch and all of the medal round.

Of course, no question there, but at this point in time I think Esche would beat out DiPietro to start for team USA in these upcoming tournaments.

Probably, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. I'm curious to see how the two continue to perform in the playoffs.

I also think Esche gets the nod, assuming of course that he decides not to let any half ice slappers in.
