Campino 04-10-2004, 01:25 PM Rimouski vs Moncton - Rimouski may have the top 2 goal scorers in the league, but they also rely totally on there first 2 lines for offense. This is a team that is rebuilding, they are suppose to be contenders next season. The main advantage Moncton has is that they can roll 4 lines and get offense from each line. In the first round each player recorded atleast a point, including the goalie. Monctons 3rd line can shut down Crosby and Roussin with their famous shadowing routine.
Offensivly- Oceanics have better goal scorers, Wildcats have more of them. Only team in the league to have more than 3 30 goal scorers, they had 4 of them. Edge- Moncton
Defensively- Moncton is bigger, more offensive, more defensive, and more depth. Rimouski relies too much on their goal scoring and usually don`t have to worry about the defensive side of the game. Edge- Moncton
Goaltending- Crawford has been hot lately and has the best stats out of all the active teams. Lavallee isn`t as reliable as as crawford.
Predictions: Moncton in 6. Rimouski will win there first 2 home games, then the cats will take it from there.
montreal 04-10-2004, 01:47 PM I think Moncton will win this one, they are a strong team and have a lot of balance in their system.

So you're saying Rimouski will win the first 2 games then because Moncton is better offensively. defensively and goaltending they will win the next four straight?
Moncton in 6 sounds credible but I give the edge to Rimouski IF they win those first two games. :yo:
Noone can SHUT down the Crosby/Roussin line but if they can hold them to a goal or two per game Rimouski will need need a solid team effort from everyone else to have a chance.
L3DZ3P 04-10-2004, 04:28 PM Rimouski in 5!
X-SHARKIE 04-10-2004, 10:07 PM PEI just spanked Moncton 6-1..with Bernier picking up Monctons lone goal.
Are we getting ahead of are selves here?

Your right we are getting ahead of ourselves, but Moncton has been so tough to beat for PEI all year, it's hard to think they could win 3 in a row. But anything can happen, all they have to do is win the next game on monday night, cause goes in a game 7. I'm a big Rocket fan, so I'll be rooting for them all the way, but I admit I gave up on them after going down 3-1 in the series. Go luck to the Rocket, hopefullly for the fans they can win one more, cause there's nothing better then a game 7. :jump: :yo: :handclap:

Last nights Game 6 was the best game I've seen in the playoffs so far! What an exciting game. I made the trip to PEI to see it, and with only 3 minutes left it looked like we didn't have a shot and Game 7 was imminent... boy was I wrong. Congratulations to the Rocket for a great season, and it's too bad that they are going to lose 13 players this off-season! Doesn't seem like a good chance for a run next year! Go Cats Go!

Who are the 13 they are losing? They should be strong in nets but I'm not to sure about Boutin just yet, but I like Mior a lot, hopefully he can take over as the #1 next year. On defense they will lose MacLellan but I don't think he had a very good season anyways. They also lose Pelletier, that will hurt as he works hard every night and is physical. Noye may be their biggest loss depending what happens to Lambert and Urquhart. But I think Gragnani should have a big year next season, and hopefully Hruska does as well. Their defense will need some type of work, as it will continue to be their main weakness. Don't know what Savard will do there.
The big question is what happens to Lambert and Urquhart. No one knows just yet, but if Lambert isn't signed by June 1st (6 weeks away) he goes back into the draft. I assume the Habs will sign him before then unless he tries to get too much money. There's no way Lambert or Urquhart will make the Habs next year, so it's either AHL, ECHL or PEI. Lambert if signed I assume will go to the AHL. Urquhart if they sign him (don't have to) it's really tough to say where he will play. I don't think he will be back in PEI but he is physically lacking and may not be ready for the AHL. I would guess that Urquhart and Lambert will not be back next year and that does hurt PEI a lot. But if the NHL locks out, perhaps one or both stay in PEI, as overagers. But I expect Maxim Lapierre to have a big season, Laliberte should step it up as well and I think Hawes and Charron will play a much bigger role next year.
That's 5 guys they will most likely lose and Persson, Roux and Laniel perhaps. That's 8 guys with the later 3 being very minor losses. (imo) Bureau, Soucy and Lee will be the overagers imo, unless Lambert/Urquhart are back. I don't think I'm missing anyone else, so that's 8 guys not 13, and only 4 are big losses, imo. I don't know how the Rocket will do next year, but if they keep Vigneault as coach, and some guys step it up, they should be fine.
alecfromtherock 04-21-2004, 07:39 PM 2 players, even if they are the top goal scorers in the Q, can not pull the entire team by themselves. Obviously 4 lines that can produce and better defence are going to win the playoffs, not 2 uneffective lines in this series.
6-1 is not a good sign for Rimouski, unless they can pull a win in the next game, they are finished.
Play Rimouski first line hard and rough and victory is almost assured.
montreal 04-22-2004, 08:45 PM Not looking good for Rimouski. Down 3-1 ouch! Moncton is on a roll. And to think they could have had Pineault on the team as well. Moncton to the memorial cup?
if logic is respected (and if Hull really decide to finish the sags off now.. even though it's 2-2.. both Hull wins have been blowouts and both losses they played awful), then we would have a Moncton-Hull finals.
That would be quite the series, and would ensure that the league would send a team to the memorial cup that has a good chance to be competitive and maybe win it.
London are down 3-2 in the series in the O, so if they lose, then the door is wide open for anyone IMO.
Moncton has a very good defense and good goaltending, Hull has a killer offense. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it would be quite the showdown :)

Hey guys, stupid question from someone who doesn't get to see any of the Q games.
Who is playing against the Crosby line?
They appear, at least in the stats sheet to have limited Crosby's output, though he looks to be taking an number of shots.
Cory Crawford looks like he is in another universe by his stats.
Thanks,

Monctons checking line is Kevin Glode, Ryan Salvis and Luke Pelham
3 19 year old shut down types. Probably gave Crosby fits.
top_gun36 04-27-2004, 11:48 PM Series over 4-0 Moncton....damn, and I was hoping to see Crosby in action
