Hello Duck fans. After skimming over a couple of threads, it seems Gerber will be leaving via trade. What do you think he'll cost? Second rounder? Third? Provided Barker is gone by the fourth overall pick, would the Ducks consider Gerber and 9th overall for 4th overall? Just floating some ideas out there, let me know if I'm off base and undervalueing him any. I think Gerber would give the the Jackets and Denis the solid backup they've never had someone that could push Denis to be his best.

I think that the Jackets need more Barker than Gerber and another random pick. If Barker is gone by the time the Jackets have to pick, maybe something can happen.

Assuming Ovechkin,Malkin and Barker go 1 through 3...Gerber and the 9th pick for the 4th pick so we can draft Olesz??...Gerbers value around the league seems to be at about a good second round pick (31-40th pick), is that fair value to move up from 9th to 4th?

Gerber would be a great backup for Denis and maybe would take over the number 1 spot because he is just hitting his prime for goalies.

Is that enough for Columbus to pass on Olesz and take another guy 5 picks later???

Yes, yes they would.

The Jackets are looking, and scouting, heavily on Andrew Ladd. He may be there at nine. If not, there will be Tukonen, Thelen, and some others that I'm sure the Jackets would look into. MacLean has made hardly any comment on Olesz, and in the past he's talked about the guys he wanted alot before the draft (Nash and Zherdev). Maybe he's finally learned to keep his cards closer to the vest, or maybe he doesn't have any interest in drafting Olesz. He has said he's looking at moving down(never said that before) and he's also looking at what it would cost to move up.

I think having someone like Gerber to push Denis is very important. They can battle for two seasons, than Leclaire will likely to be ready then. After that, Gerber may go back to Europe, or maybe he sticks around with the Jackets and they can trade Denis.

Personally, I hope they stay at fourth and take Olesz, provided Barker is gone. I think Olesz is getting the respect that Michalek got last year, and that's a lack of respect. Just because he isn't billed at being a 80 point scorer doesn't mean he's not worth a top 5 pick (which I feel Michalek should have been, to the Sabres last year).
