Which league do you think is better? Findus British National League, or the Elite Ice Hockey League(or watever the league's name is)??? Why is that one better and which one do you follow more????

The EIHL is certainly the more publicised. The playoff final was screened on tv just this weekend. Both leagues have excellent teams with Guilford Flames winning the Findus BNL and the Sheffield Steelers winning the EIHL. The EIHL is the stronger league IMO though I haven't followed British Hockey regularly since the mid 1990s when Manchester Storm and Blackburn Hawks were in their prime.

The EIHL has a wage cap that is over double that of the FBNL. That's all you need to know to work out which one is better...

In a 7-game series I'd take the EIHL team (except London) in 5 or 6 generally. What Graham says is generally speaking true, if you look through the old threads on this board their are some reports I did of intra-league games earlier in the season in which the EIHL teams weren't quite at full strength.

btw - The BNL is where most of the British talent is... the EIHL attracts a lot of overseas players which is why its a better standard.

Last I heard there were talks to bring them closer together.. hopefully something gets worked out for the good of the game.

There will be a cross-over cup competition next season, which came about through IIHF mediation. Although, I believe that there are still arguments going on about the tournament behind the scenes because of the different import limits in the two leagues.

Apologies. Like I said, my British Hockey days are long gone :banghead:

EPL is the best BRITISH league.

This is why I used the wage cap to determine the best league. Unlike North America, we have 3 leagues with very different philosophies, which all the leagues can use to justify why there's is best. Truth is, all 3 are the best at what they do.

And regardless of what anyone tells me, none of them are doing British players any favours, including EPL...

Just on salaries, first tier is EIHL, 2nd tier is FBNL, 3rd tier is EPL, 4th tier is the SNL and ELD1.
