Are there any chance that some of the voltigeurs will be drafted this year? Last season Joanisse and Melanson were ranked on the central scouting liste but neither were picked. I thing Melanson opted out and I am not sure about Joanisse. I think Michaud has a good change regarding his playoff stats. What do you guys think since I live in the maritimes and I only see Drummondvile three or four times a year it is difficult to judge.

I saw Drummond play about 50 times this year, probably more, but I have to say the absolute best player on the team is Andre Joanisse. He has pro writeen all over him. He has a cannon shot, he is a great skater, he is physical and he knows what to do in his own end. He was paired with Mike Charette all year who had an up-and-down season, but Andre was very consistant and I would love to see him get drafted.

Other than him, I dont think there are any real chances of anyone on Drummond getting drafted. Melanson needs a lot of work and I couldnt see anyone really taking a chance on him. He is a soft defender who doesnt have a great stride and has really bad hands. But he does get the job done in the defensive zone.

Sylvain Michaud has a chance of being a late rounder, but there is just too much baggage that comes along with this kid. He has an attitude, and has a lot of off-ice issues to deal with, and the fact that he has not had a spotless medical history (he has had bouts with mono, as well as viral meningitis, and a few other viruses, and has had some injury woes.) Sly can be a good goalie, but he needs to get his head screwed on straight if he wants to be taken seriously.

I think the best chance of a Voltigeur getting drafted would be Andre Joanisse. He is an awesome player and was a pleasure to watch all season.

Rumour had it around the arena that Kevin Mailhiot is considering retirement. His concussion that he recieved late in the season is very bad and his family has been advised to seriously ponder his future in hockey since another concussion could mean serious brain dammage.

Mailhiot had a very dissapointing year before the injury, he seemed to have a lot of trouble getting into position and understanding systems, and wasnt imposing himself physically.

Its a shame cause he started out like a bat out of hell last season but after the midpoint of last season he just bottomed out and hasnt been able to recover...

Maybe someone will take a late round shot on the kid, but who knows if he will even be back in the Q next year.

That's a shame for him. But he's got to think of his health first.
