Jiggy plays for the money (http://www2.ocregister.com/ocrweb/ocr/article.do?id=88832&section=SPORTS&subsection=PRO&year=2004&month=4&day=4):

"I'm looking forward to a new beginning," Giguere said. "I'm hoping that by going there, I'm going to know what I'm playing hockey for again. Obviously, there you don't play for the money. You play for the challenge. You play for the honor of your country. I think it's going to be a lot of fun."

Guess there's no honor playing for Anaheim without a paycheck attached. What a pr!ck.

Is Ozo playing for Latvia? Also, at the World Championships of Hockey in the fall, does he have to play for Latvia, or can he play for Russia since he was born in the USSR?

Shouldn't matter - neither has a prayer of making the Russian team.

I don't think Ozo would have too many problems cracking the Ruskie team. I'm having a hard time thinking of Russian d-men(so far I got Zubov and Gonchar), but I don't think it gets any better than that. Knowing my knowledge of Russians though, there are probably four other guys leagues ahead of Ozo. Who would Ozo have a tough time beating out on the Russian team?

I don't know what to say about Jiggys comments, should I egg his house?

I would consider Vishnevski's chance of making the Russian team to be much greater than Havelid's with Sweden.

Any idea if Carney will play for the U.S. squad?

Don't be too sure that they'll make the roster... They have to impress Hardy in tryout games first...

Where do you have the info the will only get try-outs?

It's camp you know.... They are not certain to make the squad... Or do you think 18-year old defenseman Niklas Andersson who is on the squad will make it for the WC? :rollie:

:joker:

First of all, Niklas Andersson is already off the roster.

Second, you misunderstood my question. A player like Niclas Hävelid maybe wouldn't accept a try-out, or has he? Mostly Swedes brought home for WC get a regular spot. I just wonder WHERE you have read they've got try outs? Havent seen this information, or that they even will come to WC, in any swedish paper.

The only thing preventing Niclas Hävelid from making the swedish team would be an injury. He will be one of Swedens best defensemen in this tournament, making it his 2nd since he won the gold in 1998.
