From what I have heard, the Ducks have a budget of 50 million. I was wondering if anyone knew how much room they have left after signing Koivu.

CapGeek has the Ducks spending about $50,050,000 in cap dollars after the Koivu signing. This includes the Bertuzzi buy out and the bonuses of just under $2 million. This does not include Wiz or any other signing. However, due to the structure of the Ducks contracts, it appears that the actual payroll is less than the cap payroll.

What we don't know is the actual budget, whether the budget is cap dollars or real dollars, whether the budget includes the Bertuzzi buy out and how much, if any, management is willing to go over the budget number for specific players. Based upon Murray's interview today regarding the Koivu signing, Murray is looking to sign Wiz and have enough money left over for an experienced defenseman.
