2 years, 2.25M...really nice!!!

The Ducks and veteran center Todd Marchant, an unrestricted free agent, have agreed to terms on a two-year contract that the club is expected to announce shortly.

Marchant, set to turn 36 next month, will receive $1 million this season and $1.25 million in 2010-11. He had previously earned an average of just more than $2.5 million annually as part of a long-term contract he signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003, but accepted less money in exchange for a multi-year deal and the opportunity to remain with the Ducks.

If we can get Rob Niedermayer to sign with the same deal I'd be thrilled.

Wow, great terms. I said previously it seems Murph is really gunning for bargain contracts and it seems he gets them done, too. Fabulous job!

For a while there i thought that Marchant was gone when it took this much time. Real good to see him in the line up next year, and very good job by Murray to get him sign so cheap.

If we can get Rob Niedermayer to sign with the same deal I'd be thrilled.

Don't know about that, i wouldn't be overly excited to watch Rob two more years. But 1y and this price, that would be great :)

Murray mustve REALLY been lowballing him if it took this long for Marchant just to get this deal. love the deal, Marchant is a great guy and a great bottom 6 center. could even throw a scoring winger with him once in awhile to change things up when the top 6 is struggling.

Excellent deal to retain some leadership on our bottom 6.

No thanks. League minimum... maybe, but no thanks to a million+.

Good deal, would rather he play on the 4th line to preserve him a little for the 2nd half/and hopefully playoffs and Carter step in on 3rd line.
Lets hope Moen is next so he can get that size/toughness on the checking line again

Second line C sorted :sarcasm:

I really like this signing though, a couple more years of Marchant around the locker room is a really good thing imo

Very good for us as he can skate and hit for a small body.

If Beauchemin really wanted to be here, he'd be here.

Good job Murray!

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Lupul-Ebbet-Selanne
Carter-Marchant-Christensen
Brown-UFA-Parros
Bodie

Now sign Nichol to center the 4th line...or Malhotra or Moen for third line and Christensen can center the 4th line.

edit: I forgot Nokia and Miller. With Bodie in the AHL that gives us 13 forwards already without signing another UFA.

Put Nokia on the 3rd and move Christensen to the 4th to center Parros and Brown, not too bad I guess.

Nieds - ?(Hopefully Wiz but who knows)
Whitney - Brookbank/Sbisa
Sbisa/Brookbank - Salcido/Fest/Mikkelson

That looks like a pretty awful defence.. especially when you compare it to
Nieds - Wiz
Whitney - Prongs
Beauch - Brookbank

I don't blame you for not listing the defense, I don't like looking at our current one either.

Anyway this is a great signing, but if we let Beauchemin go and don't resign a better option at 2nd line center or a top 4 defensmen, then that's pathetic.
