Could someone please update me on who the Ducks are in talks with to sign with Anaheim?

In terms of RFA's I'd expect Wiz, Salcido and Festerling
UFA's I have less idea but it appears we have irons in the fire with Saku Koivu and Francious Beauchemin, any others I'm not really sure on, people from the area will be able to give you a better idea

Beachemin, Marchant and Wisniewski are the only established nhl guys theyre negotiating with for sure. beyond that, MAYBE koivu. cant see them even bothering with any other big names if 2 out of 3 of those guys come through.

I still think they could add some more offense, preferably a 2nd line center that cold play with Lupul and Selanne. Does Murray have anyone in mind?

According to the OCregister, the Ducks had interest in UFA RW Mikael Samuelsson, but he signed with the Canucks.

According to Swedish newspaper expressen, UFA LW P.J. Axelsson has a list of 6 teams he wants to play for that could have a shot at the cup. So who knows, maybe Anaheim is one of the teams he considers going to.

I'm a big bob murray fan, but his interest in Samuelsson is a concern to me.

Edit - actually it looks like Samuelsson was Whicker's pet project, so I don't have to worry just yet.

As some have already said, the only definite free agents that Murray has contacted right now are Marchant and Beauchemin. He's had discussions with Wiz as well. One would assume that he's talking to Salcido and Festerling as well since they were qualified.

The Koivu rumors are pure speculation. Murray has not openly admitted to talking to him or anything like that. People are just assuming because it's a good fit, and Teemu obviously wants him here. I also believe that he has had some discussion with other defensemen as well in case Beauchemin goes elsewhere.

It seems like the team is waiting on something. What it is, we don't know. It just doesn't make since that we haven't signed any of our RFA defensemen, or signed any UFA defensemen yet. IMO, Murray is waiting on something, whether it's a trade that's in the works, Beauchemin's decision, or something else, I have no clue. It just doesn't make any sense to not sign any of those RFA's yet, unless he's waiting for something else to happen first. Hell, for all we know he could be crossing his fingers that Seabrook becomes a free agent. Something fishy is going on that's for sure. Hopefully we will get some idea sometime next week.

I don't care much for Samuelsson either, but I'm glad that he's entertaining the idea of replacing Ebbett there.

What are you talking about? I didn't ask my second question twice? And I haven't commented on the answers to my second question.

Okay, so you're asking what free agents are Murray talking to? Well since none of us work for the man or represent any players nor are we reporters with any kind of access to such information we don't know. There's players we speculate based on our needs and how said player would fit with our team (i.e. Koivu) but beyond that you aren't going to find out anything from us. Why not email bmurray@anaheimducks.com. Maybe he'll tell you.
