Yeah, "Dash to Death" is my favorite as well. It's the one with the "contraceptive sponges" and "ejaculator."

Anyway, I saw a winter sports edition that included a snowman version and "sinkers and floaters" as well as something called "sperm wheelers." The other episode I watched included "sinkers and floaters" and "wall bangers."

Monsters vs. Mascots is another great episode.

alright technical HDTV/soundbar question...i just got my soundbar and it works great with DVDs and stuff

is there anyway i can get the sound from my cable/Comcast to go through the soundbar? all thats coming out of the back of the cable box is the cable itself and the HDMI cable which both are currently connected to the TV

anyone got any ideas?

Just got back from Canada. I was making great time until I got to ****ing PA. They closed the right lane on I-81 for a mile, then opened both lanes back up for a mile, then closed the left lane for a mile, then opened both lanes back up for a mile, then closed the right lane again....

This **** happened for like 20 miles. And because everyone had to re-merge into one lane 20 times, it took me 2 hours to get through that stretch of highway.

There should be a way to connect the sound bar to your TV. I have a Logitech speaker system hooked up for my PS3. The HDMI cable goes from the PS3 into my TV and then I have audio cables from my TV that go to the speaker system.

Depends on your home theater system... and if it has HDMI switching.

HDMI carries the audio and video both - so if you run the HDMI out of your cablebox and ps3 into your home theater system, it should have HDMI output that you then run 1 HDMI pass-through to your tv and whichever input you select, it automatically switches to that source video as well and you don't have to mess with multiple audio/video runs.

Don't even talk to me about I-81.

I go to school in and work 2 of every 3 weeks out of Ithaca, NY but operate out of Jersey the rest of the time so I make the the drive between the two very often, as a matter of fact I'm driving up to Ithaca tonight after spending the 4th at home. I-81 is the bane of my existence, so much so, I stopped driving at reasonable hours and only drive up or back after 10pm at night to avoid the inevitible traffic jams and slowdowns that result from that godforsaken stretch of highway.

Sometimes, it's so bad, I long for the Turnpike.

Ah, ok. My Godmother lives down near there in Short Pump, and I went to school an hour away.

I go up to Baltimore all the time, and it's about 45 minutes in no traffic, and about 2 and a half hours if the sun is up.

I hate I-81 as well, but don't have to use it as much to get to Ithaca because I'm coming from CT. I'm only on 81 between Binghamton and the Whitney Point exit, and it still sucks.

Let me tell you about an awful road though. Rte 17 is my nemesis. It winds through the Catskills, connecting I-84 and I-81. There is literally nothing of interest on the road, but it is so winding and mountainous that you can't speed through it. Furthermore, the cops love to use it as a speed trap, so in the areas you can go fast, you shouldn't. I found this out the hard way. I got a ticket in a town with a population of 305. I don't even remember the name of it, it's so unimportant, West Bumble**** or something. So ya, I hate Rte 17.

The worst is when a girl pretends to be interested in hockey because she likes me. I can tell she doesn't actually care, but since she asked about it I'm going to try and explain things because I appreciate her efforts to connect with me. Then when she still doesn't get it because she wasn't actually interested, it's just annoying. This has happened with three women already. Sometimes I wish she'd be more genuine and admit she doesn't care, other times I wish she'd figure it out and start to like it for herself. We can always use more female puckheads.

Last season, when Salvo was out, I remember her saying something along the lines of "It'd be nice if they called up Corrente because I think he adds more of the grittiness that Salvador brings to the lineup than Andy Greene". My heart leapt. (Clearly, she would fit in just fine here.)

This is one reason I love being brown. I can't sunburn. I could sit in the sun all day and never burn. I'd probably develop skin cancer and die from it by sitting out that long before I'd burn.

I do tan ridiculously fast though. Sometimes I'll be driving, and when I get out of the car, one arm will be noticeably darker than the other. That can get annoying.

That show is like watching a head-on collision between a moped and bicycle... sounds good to watch, then you feel like you've been taken at the end. 10 minutes of real drama in an hour show.

I just laugh at the massive expenses and efforts they go through to basically pull up close to a whaling boat and basically throw stink bombs...

Flipping boats, nearly sinking from getting caught in ice, losing power, all in what equates to rolling up to a drug dealer's den and throwing water balloons. Are the results really worth the risk?

I'll keep watching though...

Oh - and no way he was shot - that was shrapnel from the flashbang at best. You get shot and at the very least you get a big ass bruise on your chest and knocked down even if the vest stops the slug (which that "slug" they dug out was rounded, not compressed with a mushroomed head).

Oh - and no way he was shot - that was shrapnel from the flashbang at best. You get shot and at the very least you get a big ass bruise on your chest and knocked down even if the vest stops the slug (which that "slug" they dug out was rounded, not compressed with a mushroomed head).

The pursuit is what really hurts the whalers. As your seeing this time around they are trying everything in their power to throw sea-Shepard off. They know they will never fully shut them down but if they can chip away at their profits each yr it does ultimately hurt them. I guess the show is a lot better to those who fully believe in their cause( yes i know they hollywood it up some with the fake gunshot and all ) . I've always been a big supporter of animal rights and what not sense I was a kid... granted PETA is a bunch of morons. If i had the extra time and money to spare i'd volunteer with sea Sheppard.

I really question those results... I'm sure they have impacted the whaler's business, but to the tune of $10M+...??? I suspect if it were to get that costly there would be more severe actions taken against them by now.

It's a good cause - I'm all for shutting down illegal whaling, I just don't know that their "radical" approach is really the best alternative given the results vs. risk - and who is most likely to take the action most "severe" of the two parties locked in battle here.

At the very least, this is getting exposure to the issue which is probably the biggest victory of all.

Illegal whaling? What happened to international diplomacy, the rule of law, hello?

Those morons are putting people’s lives at risk with the stunts they are playing; not only the whalers, but their own.

When did an animal’s life become more important than a person’s? That is why this society is completely twisted.

NBA salary cap news:
The new figures for 2009-10 just announced by the league have set the salary cap at $57.7 million per team -- down $1 million from $58.7 from 2008-09 -- and the luxury-tax threshold at $69.9 million.
In a memo announcing next season's salary cap and luxury-tax threshold, sent out shortly before the league's annual July moratorium on signings and trades was lifted at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, NBA teams also received tentative projections from the league warning that the cap is estimated to drop to somewhere between $50.4 million and $53.6 million for the 2010-11 season.

Episode 3 of this season put this whole debate to rest. A Japanese whaler had fallen over board. Sea Shepard had run up on the ENTIRE fleet. Perfect time to launch a attack. But what did they do ? Offered their hand to the japs to try and find the surely dead sailor. The response they got from the japs was basically a **** you don't help us. So they stood pat as long as they could. Eventually they had to make their way back to Melbourne to refuel and start stage two of their mission.

No one on that boat doesn't understand the risks and the lengths they might have to go to save whales. It's something everyone on that boat feels strongly about.

Uhmm, ahh, You sound like a 1940's Bugs Bunny cartoon.

They should be fighting for laws and or treaties with enforcement behind them. You don’t go all Charles Bronson on people, especially not over animals.

There are children dying because of lack of adequate legal protection, probably a few in your own town or county, the last thing I’m going to worry about is an animal.

Vigilantism in defense of an animal is acceptable to you -- Sounds rather absurd to me.

I would suggest they head to the inner city and spray crack dealers with Super Soakers to solve the drug problem as well. Seems like a much more worthwhile cause.

I do wish it was that easy. Strict laws exist with endangered land mammals as well but we still see heavy instances of poaching in Asia and Africa. Sadly, theres plenty of governments who share your sentiment, 'It's an animal, who cares'. I'm not going to hold my breath to see any serious action against animal poaching.

I think the main benefit of Whale Wars is to raise awareness. I can understand that you don't feel the same way I do but this seems to me like the only way to seriously raise awareness.

they need to introduce some subplots on the ship like who of the crew is sneaking around and sleeping with who; have a bar on the ship and show some drunken arguments and better yet have a captain's mast for violations of the crew code of conduct... and vote 1 crewmember off each week for not pulling their weight in duties.

NOW you have a show.

Better yet - do a crew swap with the deadliest catch and have one crew member from each boat swap out with the Steve Irwin's crew for a week. That would be some serious funny stuff there. (wife swap meets deadliest catch meets whale wars)

I disagree. I believe extremism does more to divide public opinion -- Extremist turn off as many people as they persuade.

African elephants especially in Kenya and South Africa, while still poached have made incredible strides over the last couple of decades. The main reason in my opinion is the value of eco-tourism has been greater than the value of ivory on the open market.

Hearts and minds were changed about the value of the resource. Vigilantism was not needed.

Documentaries, video, public campaigns raise awareness. But nothing is more powerful than economics. If nobody is buying the product, those whale boats will turn to cod boats, or crab boats or whatever is going to line the captain’s pockets.

Violence, regardless of the degree, only attracts the extreme fringe and looses the general public's opinion.

Yes they did - to a degree. I had really high expectations (as in better than Old School and on par with Swingers), but it did not achieve those heights.

I laughed hard quite a few times, but overall I felt it was spotty with the humor. My major criticism was how they told the story - with it all being remembering the night previous, they didn't give you any time to really get into the nuances of each character and laugh at the setup of the crazy events. You just BAM were hit with the event and got the equivalent of a prat-fall laugh rather than a good story with a great punch line.

Lebowski is so funny because you understand the quirky characters well in advance of the actual "joke" that is being presented to you and thus it makes it funnier because of the context of the person involved; not just the events being presented.

Just my opinion...

no, Lebowski is definately a better movie.

this one, though, I just kinda expected to suck when I saw it, because it seemed like they were giving so much away. so, I guess it depends alot on expectations. and it didn't help that they cram so much into a short movie.

On a 1-10, I gave it a 3.5. I saw it on a Saturday afternoon because I needed to get my mind off the fact that I was running a race at 7pm. Instead I got a movie with a few funny scenes and one of the sloooooooowest plots I've seen in a comedy since the early 80s. That movie dragged more than Transformers. 20 minutes in, my girlfriend was looking up the run time on her phone to see how much more we were going to sit through. Everyone was going nuts here over Hangover and I was the first one to saw I didn't think it was all that great and I nearly got killed. It wasn't anything special and wasn't really all THAT funny.

I saw Paul Blart on the plane home, mainly because I wanted to see that part. He was hiding from one of the bad guys in a sports store and had goalie equipment on and a devs jersey. WALTER
Yeah?

DUDE
**** yeah!

WALTER
Okay, but how does all this add up to an emergency?

DUDE
Huh?

WALTER
I'm saying, I see what you're getting at, Dude, he kept the money, but my point is, here we are, it's shabbas, the sabbath, which I'm allowed to break only if it's a matter of life and death--

DUDE

DUDE

DUDE
And you were divorced five ****ing

WALTER
Yeah? What do you think happens when you get divorced? You turn in your library card? Get a new driver's license? Stop being Jewish?

AS HE TURNS:

DUDE
It's just part of your whole sick Cynthia thing. Taking care of her ****ing dog. Going to her ****ing

The Dark Knight Returns is the title of the most critically acclaimed batman book. It would make a great movie down the road as a finale to the current franchise.

It just sucks that they already used the 2 best villains in one movie. The Joker could always return but that would have to be a film away at the least with Heath still being in the movie going public's conscience. Two-Face should have never died.

The Riddler is just not a compelling enough villain for me, too gimmicky, he's taken as a joke in some of the later comics.

I would create a new villain that could match the vision that Nolan has for the current film series. I can't see anyone else from the rogues gallery working on film.

These days the Riddler is actually less of a joke in the comics. He's trying to go straight, and be an honest detective, and no one takes him seriously, even though he was solving mysteries quicker than Batman. It made for an interesting dynamic when Batman would show up at a hangout to tackle the thieves and Riddler had already led the police there. Of course now Batman's dead and the books aren't exactly humming along.

Yes I stopped reading at around Hush.

What books are you referring to Foy?

These days the Riddler is actually less of a joke in the comics. He's trying to go straight, and be an honest detective, and no one takes him seriously, even though he was solving mysteries quicker than Batman. It made for an interesting dynamic when Batman would show up at a hangout to tackle the thieves and Riddler had already led the police there. Of course now Batman's dead and the books aren't exactly humming along.

On a different note, don't you hate it when you walk into the bathroom and don't realize someone is in one of the stalls? Then, when you realize it after a few moments, you try to think if you maybe said something to yourself, and if you did, whether or not they heard it...

I walked into the bathroom before to wash my hands and I don't remember if I had been singing a song out loud or whether it was audible or not. When I realize someone else was in there, I was like "oh ****...was I singing out loud?" and my main focus was to get out of their as fast as possible. At least I don't know who it was.

I still don't think Kevin Spacey would be bad at it either, I know he can be a little bland, but I think he has it in him and he sort of has the "look."

Did you miss the front page stories in USA today? Or the story arc called "Batman RIP?" or the story arc called "Battle for the Cowl?"

Yes I stopped reading at around Hush.

Batman and Robin seems to be ok so far, but the new team on Batman is already announced, and the current team has one issue out, and Batman isn't even appearing in Detective Comics these days.

Kevin Spacey is too "intelligent". Maybe that would be better? lol

I mean, when I think Spacey I think "American Beauty", "Pay It Forward", "K-Pax", and "Beyond The Sea", not to mention "Se7en".

Those are some of my favorite movies, and his roles tend to be high-thought characters. Just saying...

How could you leave out the Usual Suspects? Verbal Kint is one of the best characters Spacey has ever played, not to mention another "intelligent" role.

He could make it work as the Riddler though. Hell, anything would be better than Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey wasn't bad. The whole movie just sucked.

Yeah I guess you're right, he was in 21 as well which, again, was in the same context.

But hey, Heath Ledger was a ****ing *** in Brokeback and a pretty androgynous "Knight" in that other movie, whatever it was called.

It can be done. haha.

I dunno, I'm really going on look and the fact I think he could pull it off. I mean, besides, the Riddler was crazy but intelligent too, hence the riddles. I think Spacey could totally pull off some truly sadistic riddles and not the childish-like **** from the past.

Unfortunately I don't know how the overall plot continues in terms of this series of graphic novels, but I have to imagine he's far more sinister than in the past.
