I came here tonight, and I didn't know what to expect. I seen... a lot of people hatin' me, and, I didn't know.. what to feel about that... so.. I guess I didn't like.. you much none either. Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and all the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called 'patriotism'.

I prefer to think of the earth as the best planet because it's the one that can sustain life. Once you start placing countries in order you give yourself excuses to hate other people. If you particularly like the Mississippi or Yellowstone or something fine, but the people aren't better or worse.

I really used to hate South Africa because of the apartheid system but really they were just dealing with their indigenous people the way the US and Australia dealt with theirs but had a far more populated country to deal with. Some of the most impressive people I know are South African but the political system also bred an underclass of criminals and some very obnoxious entitled monied clans. These same groups can be seen in America.

I guess the definition of country is the problem. It can't really be just the local political system.

This is a hockey site and if I go any further off track this thread will end badly. So, happy birthday for yesterday, America, and if any country has July 5th as their national day, happy birthday to you too.
