marty30brodeur 07-04-2009, 01:02 AM Blair betts or dominic Moore.
I would consider signing one of them. One is like gionta, the other like madden, and both are relatively cheap. I don't know if you guys would accept an x ranger.
Harrison Ford 07-04-2009, 01:11 AM Neither for me. I would rather go with Pelley.
marty30brodeur 07-04-2009, 01:19 AM pelley has like 0 offensive skill. Whenever hes on the ice i dont feel good about our chances of scoring.
Brodeur2007 07-04-2009, 01:21 AM They're former Rags.
Jamie1987 07-04-2009, 01:21 AM Neither for me. I would rather go with Pelley.
this
Gunnar Stahl 30 07-04-2009, 01:27 AM pelley has more offensive potenital than betts. doesnt make any sense to get him when we have pelley to do the same thing
marty30brodeur 07-04-2009, 01:28 AM betts has proven it on an nhl level. You guys overrate pelley so much.
Jamie1987 07-04-2009, 01:35 AM betts has proven it on an nhl level. You guys overrate pelley so much.
well lets give pelley a shot first and then see what happens
frankiedue 07-04-2009, 01:35 AM The Rags did have the 2nd Best PK in the NHL last season and Betts was their main penalty killer. I'd take him if he would come cheap.
kyle evs48 07-04-2009, 01:53 AM I'd take Betts. The guy is an elite penalty killer and gets no credit.
betts has proven it on an nhl level. You guys overrate pelley so much.
Im with you man. Way too much. I don't like the idea of having Pelley in the lineup next season, but it's worth giving him a shot.
Clarkson Falls Down 07-04-2009, 02:37 AM Im with you man. Way too much. I don't like the idea of having Pelley in the lineup next season, but it's worth giving him a shot.
You have a problem with Pelley being the 4th line center next season?
Darius Dangleaitis 07-04-2009, 03:26 AM Dominic Moore will be too expensive.
I'd rather see what we have in Pelley than try Betts.
CanadianDevil* 07-04-2009, 03:55 AM take Betts because hes proven and we can piss of the rags. WIN!
devilzrule27 07-04-2009, 06:53 AM betts has proven it on an nhl level. You guys overrate pelley so much.
betts has proven that he sucks in the NHL. And he certainly doesn't have more offensive skill then Pelley. Pelley will probably get around 10-14 points. Betts is good for 8-10. Along with that is the fact that Pelley is younger so I'd go with him.
And please never ever ever compare Moore to Gio again. Last year is the first time he ever scored more then 18 points. and the first time he broke the 10 goal plateau. again I'd rather see what Bergfors can do as a rookie then bring in MARGINAL NHL players like Moore and Betts.
devilzrule27 07-04-2009, 06:56 AM I'd take Betts. The guy is an elite penalty killer and gets no credit.
I don't want to sign a guy that can only play the pk. Hello we have Jay ****ing Pandolfo already. Do we need another?
2nd line center, please. No thanks to wingers unable to score 40 goals and bottom 6 -players. There´s a bunch of them already under contract.
HatTrick89 07-04-2009, 07:54 AM The Rags did have the 2nd Best PK in the NHL last season and Betts was their main penalty killer. I'd take him if he would come cheap.

When's that change coming? I can't wait to see Lundcrap play with smaller pads.
Systemfel 07-04-2009, 08:47 AM I don't want to sign a guy that can only play the pk. Hello we have Jay ****ing Pandolfo already. Do we need another?Betts wouldn't cost 2.5 million.
DevilsFan38 07-04-2009, 08:50 AM A big NO to both of them. We don't need bottom 6 guys, we have plenty of depth there already.
Devsfan309 07-04-2009, 08:52 AM betts has proven it on an nhl level. You guys overrate pelley so much.
Exactly what he said.... Betts is proven... Pelly is not the answer for a replacement....
DevzFan15 07-04-2009, 09:36 AM I really like Betts but if where playing Pelley, isnt having Betts pointless (unless we move one to RW)
Captain Lou 07-04-2009, 11:04 AM I would take Betts for under $1M any day over Rod Pelley. I can't believe Lou let Madden go on a 1-year deal to give this guy a shot.
Rod Pelley will never be anything more than a fringe NHL'er.
kyle evs48 07-04-2009, 11:20 AM Rod Pelley will never be anything more than a fringe NHL'er.
We won't know that for sure until he gets some more playing time on the other side of the fringe.

I guess that's why we had a similarly elite penalty kill when Stephen Valiquette is starting, right? Henrik must work his magic from the bench...
Hooray for people who pretend to know what they are talking about.

Well Vally is a big guy so his pad size is justified.
Hank on the other hand.

Not really sure what the 1994 Stanley Cup or crappy 90's Euro music has to do with Blair Betts and his elite penalty killing skills...

You guys would love Blair Betts if he played for your team. He definitely has more offensive potential than his stats suggest. I thought he would score more last season with a player like Sjostrom on his wing, but man Colton Orr was just an anchor on that line offensively. Betts has very limited vision, but he has decent hands and finishing skills, especially for a 4th liner. That combined with his elite penalty kill skills makes him a valuable player to me, and one that would fit a team run by Lou very well.

The NYR and all discussion pertaining to them absolutely, positively has to be tinged with some sort reference to 1994 and its bi products such as crappy Euro music of the time.
This has been beaten into us by the MSG Networks and all 18,200 NYR fans
You should know that by now.

It was bad enough watching the NYR win the Stanley Cup for the first time in like 200 years, but this is the slop (along with the Crash Test Dummies) that we forced to watch and listen to if we so happened to turn on the TV or the radio.
I like it when he starts rapping at :34 :biglaugh:

Lurker Alert.
If any of us posted that last sentence in a Ranger thread we'd have an infraction.

Wat? we wont know unless he gets playing time in the NHL???? He played 58 games back in the 07-08 season and put up 2goals 4assists. What we got from him that season I believe will b wat we r going to get from Pelly....

You see Kyle, it just implies how long ago and irrelevant 1994 should be, but unfortunately is certainly not.
As for Blair Betts, I'm totally indifferent towards him in relation to the current and pressing needs for this team.
Interesting topic, until the urgency to defend a certain goaltender and his controversial, borderline-legal equipment.

The 2009-10 Devils are much, much different than the 2007-08 Devils.

I don't think Betts fills any holes on this team. He would be a luxury, and a great one at that.

I'd rather have Ryan Callahan to replace Gionta. Along with Fedor Tyutin, he's the only NYR player I really actually like.
I used to like Hugh Jessiman, but I don't think he can reproduce the success he has shown on the NYR with his back to back to back 30 goal seasons.

I would love to get Callahan, but I don't think he'll be leaving anytime soon. He'll be the second best forward on the Rags next year IMO.
Jiri Bicek 07-04-2009, 12:29 PM Pass on both.. They're both extra players that we don't need and just add to the cap

I didn't say a single word about Lundqvist's pads. He used Lundqvist's pads as the reason our PK has been so great, and my point was that the Ranger's PK was similarly great even when Valiquette was in net and Henrik was not, thus nullifying such a possibility.

Vally is a bigger goalie. bigger goalie=bigger pads
now that ive explained it to you can u pass it on to Queen Lundcrap?
Gunnar Stahl 30 07-04-2009, 01:34 PM we still have two selke nominees and several well above average defensive players that we can use for th pk, no need for betts who only really can play the pk and nothing else

I think you misunderstood; it's not April Fool's Day... it's Independence Day.
732DevilsFan 07-04-2009, 01:59 PM Love to have Betts. He's a proven PKer, a great player in his own defensive zone, and a good skater.
Harrison Ford 07-04-2009, 05:53 PM I can't wait for Rod Pelley to prove all you wrong. He polished his offensive game in Lowell and will probably be our 2nd PK unit's center. I am all for it. Youth Movement all the way!

We have an "elite" penalty killer his name is Jay Pandolfo and I ****ing hate him because he is a waste of a roster space. I don't want anymore one dimensional players. Zajac can center our PK. He became, last year, our best defensive forward and he should continue to get even better. Pelley is strong defensively and has shown flashes of offensive ability in the AHL. Given his age and dirt cheap contract he is a much better option then Betts. If he's so ****ing great another team can sign him. I want nothing to do with him.

I'm with you I really think he's going to surprise. Also 10x better then Blair ****ing Betts.
BrodeurRULES 07-05-2009, 09:04 AM Um no TY.........We have players that can easily fit in before we even had to sink that low :). Time to give players from Lowell a chance for once!
