Would you sign Ales Kotalik?

Would you guys want to see Lou go after him? He had 20 goals and 23 assists last year and I believe for the right price, we can get him. No one has really talked about him so is he asking for too much or is it he just hasnt signed yet? Let me know what you think....

I think Kotalik is a good hockey player, I just want a center more than another winger. The hole is the number 1/2 (depending on what you consider Trav) center spot.

Kotalik is a good player with a great shot, but there´s already enough wingers on this team. So thanks, but no thanks.

Since we want a center, how bout making an offer to Blair Betts who can fill maddens spot?? I dont think that Pelly is the answer but thats just my opinion...

Betts, Malholtra or Moore. Those should be cheap options for #3 center. I'd rather just use Zubrus in that spot and sign a second line center, but an expensive and lengthy Koivu signing seems unlikely.

Problem with signing Kotalik is that you'd have no spot for Bergfors. Plus that would mean committing to Rolston/Elias in the #2 center slot.

I still want Lang as the one year stopgap.

I think if Lou can't get Koivu on terms he wants (meaning 1 year probably) than I think you will see them throw a one year offer at Lang.

I'd go for Lang as a last resort.... a one contract wouldn't be all that bad. If he snaps his achillies tendon again, it won't be that bad cause he'll be off the books at the end of the season and we can always put him on LTIR.

I would love to have Betts on this team but putting him at 3rd line center is not the answer. He is one of the best PKers in the league but his offensive upside is less than that of Madden's. Hell maybe even Pelley's, we don't know yet. So yes to Betts as a 4th line option.

Now Dominic Moore is an interesting choice. I have been a fan of his since he was on the rags. He had a decent year last year and could replace or maybe pass Madden's production in a 3rd line role.

I think lou is planning on bringing josephson in as pivot next year, meaning koivu would be redundent. Lou would love to get koiva short term, but you can't blame saku (@ his age) from wanting long. doubt highly saku koivu is coming here, although theres our 2nd line center.

lol, no. Josefson is already signed to play in sweden next year, he's nto just going to magically come over. Besides, he's way to young and not ready.

Id take him in a heartbeat - hes one of the most underrated wingers in the league. Hes got a more than decent 2 way game and can play the point on the PP.

No way.

We give that wing spot to Bergfors. We don't give it to the inconsistent, overrated Kotalik.

And no to Betts. Strictly a 4th line center, and we already have one of those.

I`m not sure Berforgs is ready to step in and Kotalik could help fill the whole Gionta left behind. Lou could do worse.

not ready after 4 years in the AHL??? Two years ago he started the season on the top line before he injured his shoulder.

Lou feels he's ready. Which a part of the reason why he let Gionta leave.

He's not going to suddenly go out and sign Kotalik.

Think of it this way: We're replacing Gionta, Rolston, Zubrus, and Clarkson with Rolston, Clarkson, Bergfors, and someone yet to be named.

We're replacing Madden, Rupp, and Holik with Zubrus, Pelley, Pikkarainen, and Leblond.

He could surprise me, and I have all the faith in Lou, but i don`t see how adding Kotalik would be such a bad thing.

The cap and Paul Martin.

The cap and Paul Martin.

Last I checked, they had quite a bit of cap room and only Zajac and Vrana left to sign. They need a couple more forwards, even after adding Berforgs, and a 1 year deal wouldn`t screw them over.

But then, i`m not Lou and not even going to pretend I am.

I doubt Kotalik is going to take a 1 year deal. Someone will offer him more.

agreed with everyone that they dont need another winger.....although kotalik is a big body with a good shot (and played well with zubrus in buffalo) it just really doesnt make sense
