Overall talent, relative to their position.
Mine:
1. Martin Brodeur
2. Scott Niedermayer
3. Patrick Elias
4. Scott Stevens (age...)
5. John Madden (as a two-wayer)
6. Scott Gomez (as a playmaker)
7. Brian Gionta (he's quickly becoming a great finisher and net crasher, plus he's tough as nails)
8. Viktor Kozlov
8. Brian Rafalski
9. Sergei Brylin (He can play anything! I want to see him don the Goalie pads)
10. Jeff Friesen (yeah, he's streaky, but he's also our best clutch scorer from the cup team)

Wow, I never realized how hard this was...
Niedermayer ( plain and simple, top 5 player in the NHL today )
Brodeur ( best goalie in hockey today, but without D, wouldn't be )
Elias ( absolutely carried our offense for the past 4 years, maybe 5-6 )
Stevens ( would be #1 on this list 2 years ago...still great but career is winding down )
Gomez ( flat out Playmaker. One of the best playmakers in the game, just needs to score more )
Rafalski ( very underrated D-man. glad he made all star game, he deserved it )
Madden ( slipped a little this year, but still hussles his butt off and is a great PK man. Perrennial two-way player of the year )
Langenbrunner ( if not for his injury, probably would be higher. just a great overall player, can do it all )
Friesen ( needs to play better, but certainly has the talent. don't know why he's not a 30 goal scorer )
Gionta ( rising star. can't wait to see this kid in 5 years )
Kozlov ( new to the devils, so its hard to say. need to see him play more, but he def. has the talent )
Martin ( he will be top 5 on this list in 2 years. he's been a rookie phenom, plain and simple )
White ( really disappointed me this year. expected more especially in stevens' absence )
Brylin ( always gets lost in the shuffle, but he's a great 3rd liner )
Pandolfo ( there's games where he looks like an allstar, and then games where you thought he was a scratch )
Stevenson ( great grinder, if he scored a little more, he'd be higher )
Hale ( tough rookie season. expected more, but he will learn, and be much better in the years to come )
Marshall ( one of those guys that you really don't care if he plays or not )
Hrdina ( don't like him, don't need him. enough said )
Clemmensen ( imagine if he played 70+ games for us. i would love to see his numbers compared to marty )
Rasmussen ( i like him, but he just doesn't have the talent. i hope he steps it up for the playoffs )
Bicek ( occassional callup, nothing more to be said )
Larionov ( career's over, wish we didn't sign him )
