Saying you've signed a mystery player from Europe, Lou, and us getting all excited about it and then having it turn out to be an AHL cast off is insulting. I've seen this man play in person. If he were any slower he'd be skating backwards. This is worse than not signing anyone at all. Let this ILLKA guy take a roster spot away from Halishchuk so he can get a whopping 5 goals and 6 assists.
Seriously, if we're going to rebuild, lets rebuild. Lets not do it half-ass. Trade Colin White and Langenbrunner for prospects and lets suck for a year like the Flyers did in 06.

I think that's the funniest thing I've read all year. All Lou said was that they're going to sign a player from their reserve list in a couple days. Tom Gulitti made the "mystery player" headline. Anyone who got excited about the potential signing of a player from the Devils reserve list only has their naive selves to blame.

Sutters fault. Mottau is a third pairing defenseman and should have never been matched up against the Canes first line.

But seriously. Did you know that among defensemen who played more than 50 games last season Mottau allowed the third lowest even strength goals against per 60 minutes in the entire NHL? The guy is very solid.

Uh, who said Pikkarainen is taking a spot from a younger player? He's going to come to camp and compete just like everyone else. It didn't work out for guys like Viuhkola and Federov, so we'll see.

It is maybe better for Halischuk to get top line minutes in Lowell than 4th line minutes in New Jersey. He only had one year in the AHL and missed a good part of it because of an injury.
I think only Bergfors, Pelley and maybe Corrente are ready for the NHL.
