I assume, since he has gone through some years of development in Switzerland taking adavantage of the swiss youth program, he's considered as a "hockey swiss", should be the same as for Christian Dubé playing for Bern as a swiss player.

Please correct me if wrong....

This page (http://www.hcap-uri.ch/spieler/breitbach.htm) lists him as German/"hockey swiss"

This page (http://www.powerplay.ch/hockeydb/uebplayercard.php?spielerid=sp204) lists him as German

and this page (http://www.hockeyfans.ch/cgi/spielerinfo.pl?spielerID=robin_breitbach) lists him as German and Swiss.

I think the first one is true, would make the most sense.

I remember my swiss friends explaining to me, that it's due to the first pro-hockey-license in your hockey-vita that counts.

As for Dubé, he had his first appearance in pro hockey in Switzerland, therefore he is licensed as a swiss player, should be the same for Breitbach. Breitbach is definetely german and will play for german selections for sure if he qualifies in the eyes of the coaches.

Breitbach is double-nationality as far as I know, but he only played for the German national-team.

As for Dubé (and for many other players in the Swiss league) : A player count as a "hockey-swiss" if he gets his first license ever (not pro-license) in Switzerland. Happend to Dubé and for example Robert Nilsson (Fribourg) and Nicki Sirén (Rapperswil) etc. There are quite a few of those players around.

Hi, I wondered that he is not drafted. The Swiss junior hockey system got a very good reputation worldwide. Strange :amazed:
