I don't think he took a discount, hence his comments at the end-of-season press scrum. $6M may not have been exactly what he could have gotten had there been a true bidding war for him, but I don't think it's a penny less than what he thought he was worth.

Add in the bonuses and you have a nice golden parachute for a guy who's only playing one more year in the hopes of making some other team for two weeks.

I understood. What I meant was, I don't think he intended to give a discount, or meant to imply that he would. Not that I'm saying you thought otherwise.

I was just linking back to the comments he made earlier, which made me think at the time his discounting days were done.

Pronger wanted a 5-year extension for $6+ a year. Yeah, I'll pass on that.

I was hoping he would sign for something between $4-5mill, considering Special Nieds will probably end up costing $800k-1.5mill. I hope this doesn't prevent us from keeping Beauch and Wiz :(.

He plays more minutes than anyone else in the league, managed 59 points last year MEANWHILE killing the opponent's top units on the PP. IE: Detroit, SJ, etc.

He is irreplaceable like Murray said. Don't be greedy, it takes money to get a player. He is worth every bit of $6M. Hasn't lost a stride in his step and is a future HOF.

As for the other Niedermayer, the less gifted one, he's worth about $1.3-1.5M Max.

6 million is his worth. No discount though. I was hoping for like 5, in return for all the crap he put us through though. With the staycation and cap hell with Schneider and all. And for making us trade away the 2nd line center we so desperately need now.
