Ducks sign S Nieds!!bumperkisser 07-01-2009, 03:07 PM WOOT 6mil+bonuses.. CRAP i wonder how much bonuses Twindad 07-01-2009, 03:09 PM Good for now, until he hurts us later down the road MOENing 07-01-2009, 03:10 PM if he want us to sign his brother with some of that money. 190Octane 07-01-2009, 03:17 PM Nice of him to take a discount so we have more money to add players to have a better team. Degenerate191 07-01-2009, 03:19 PM Hopefully this means we can get something done, I want Koivu. I was just thinking about how seriously pissed I would have been if we had traded Pronger, and then find out Niedermayer signed with New Jersey or something. asdf 07-01-2009, 03:34 PM Nice of him to take a discount so we have more money to add players to have a better team. Sarcasm? I'm disappointed he didn't sign for less but I guess it's better than nothing. 190Octane 07-01-2009, 03:36 PM Sarcasm? Yup. Elvstrand 07-01-2009, 03:37 PM Terrible terrible news.... ...for Detroit... briguy35 07-01-2009, 03:41 PM He is def not worth 6 mill...I thought he hurt the team more in the playoffs than help with his age Jerky Leclerc 07-01-2009, 03:50 PM Scott Niedermayer is worth 6 million bucks. But hey, we got a hometown discount of 700k. We can now bolster our 4th line. :help: 190Octane 07-01-2009, 04:05 PM Scott Niedermayer is worth 6 million bucks. But hey, we got a hometown discount of 700k. We can now bolster our 4th line. :help: Did you forget about the bonuses? Jerky Leclerc 07-01-2009, 04:09 PM Did you forget about the bonuses? For a player over 35, bonuses work differently right? 190Octane 07-01-2009, 04:19 PM For a player over 35, bonuses work differently right? They still count if he hits them, I was making a joke more than anything else though about Niedermayer's idea of a "hometown discount." Buck Naked 07-01-2009, 04:19 PM Welcome back Scotty. Anyone who says this deal is too much for Nieds...get help now. Spankatola Jamnuts 07-01-2009, 04:25 PM They still count if he hits them, I was making a joke more than anything else though about Niedermayer's idea of a "hometown discount." I don't think he took a discount, hence his comments at the end-of-season press scrum. $6M may not have been exactly what he could have gotten had there been a true bidding war for him, but I don't think it's a penny less than what he thought he was worth. Add in the bonuses and you have a nice golden parachute for a guy who's only playing one more year in the hopes of making some other team for two weeks. iLau 07-01-2009, 04:27 PM Welcome back Scotty. Anyone who says this deal is too much for Nieds...get help now. Seriously, his deal is just fine for him. If you think he is not worth that kind of money, you are not watching the same player we are. 190Octane 07-01-2009, 04:29 PM I don't think he took a discount, hence his comments at the end-of-season press scrum. $6M may not have been exactly what he could have gotten had there been a true bidding war for him, but I don't think it's a penny less than what he thought he was worth. When I say hometown discount and Niedermayer in the same sentence, chances are I'm being sarcastic. Dirk316 07-01-2009, 04:40 PM Its a fair deal but rather have extended Pronger and kept him despite all the draft picks and Lupul Spankatola Jamnuts 07-01-2009, 04:42 PM When I say hometown discount and Niedermayer in the same sentence, chances are I'm being sarcastic. I understood. What I meant was, I don't think he intended to give a discount, or meant to imply that he would. Not that I'm saying you thought otherwise. I was just linking back to the comments he made earlier, which made me think at the time his discounting days were done. Giguere27 07-01-2009, 04:49 PM Getting Scotty back was the most important thing this off-season,because he makes us a contender. As some others said,6 mio is a good deal for a player of his caliber, but I havo to admit that I was hoping for less money. Sojourn 07-01-2009, 05:05 PM Its a fair deal but rather have extended Pronger and kept him despite all the draft picks and Lupul Pronger wanted a 5-year extension for $6+ a year. Yeah, I'll pass on that. Chexxum 07-01-2009, 05:16 PM I was hoping he would sign for something between $4-5mill, considering Special Nieds will probably end up costing $800k-1.5mill. I hope this doesn't prevent us from keeping Beauch and Wiz :(. ericnut 07-01-2009, 05:28 PM I was hoping he would sign for something between $4-5mill, considering Special Nieds will probably end up costing $800k-1.5mill. I hope this doesn't prevent us from keeping Beauch and Wiz :(. I doubt we sign Rob. crabtooch88 07-01-2009, 06:33 PM Its a fair deal but rather have extended Pronger and kept him despite all the draft picks and Lupul I'm with Murray....that trade offer from Philly should've been accepted regardless of what Scotty was doing....but your proposal is BONKERS/NUTS!!!! sorry. BTW...in your comment, you failed to mention the talented young D-Man we got too. So 2 1's and a 2nd plus Dman and Lupol...and you still want Pronger???? Stay away from Murray. Paul4587 07-01-2009, 06:33 PM Scott is easily worth $6M, he could have got more from someone else. Paul4587 07-01-2009, 06:35 PM So 2 1's and a 2nd plus Dman and Lupol...and you still want Pronger???? It's Lupul... Elvstrand 07-01-2009, 06:40 PM It's Lupul... Not that it matters... but since we're at it... I'd like to inform it's spelled Christensen not Christenson, many seems to get that one wrong. c4rcy 07-01-2009, 06:41 PM For all the signing haters...think about the reality. He plays more minutes than anyone else in the league, managed 59 points last year MEANWHILE killing the opponent's top units on the PP. IE: Detroit, SJ, etc. He is irreplaceable like Murray said. Don't be greedy, it takes money to get a player. He is worth every bit of $6M. Hasn't lost a stride in his step and is a future HOF. As for the other Niedermayer, the less gifted one, he's worth about $1.3-1.5M Max. snarktacular 07-01-2009, 08:08 PM For all the signing haters...think about the reality. I was hoping for like 5, in return for all the crap he put us through though. With the staycation and cap hell with Schneider and all. And for making us trade away the 2nd line center we so desperately need now. McDonald19 07-01-2009, 09:32 PM He's worth 6. Good signing. Sign Beauch, Marchant and Saku and we r set. | ||
