Only problem i have with Komisarek is the money. I would only consider signing him of Lou trades Pando and one of White/Sal i would wanna clear the cap space before he did it. But i dont think Lou will sign him. Honestly i dont kno what Lou will do if anything.

Gainey was playing the russian roulette with his UFA's and it looks like he'll only be able to resign Kovalev. Komisarek, Tanguay, Koivu, Bouillon, Schneider, Lang, etc... are all going to test the market and I think they're kinda pissed that they didn't get any kind of offer until now.

Tanguay would be a solid pick up but is sort of injury prone and will demand close to 5M$ per. For that money and risk, i'd rather go after Havlat.

Hope it was a pleasant connecting flight from Frankfurt to Stockholm today for Brian Burke.

A double dose of bad news, you see, was waiting for him upon landing.

Having flown overnight from Boston to Frankfurt, according to sources, with bold, ambitious plans to make a face-to-face offer to Henrik and Daniel Sedin today in Sweden, the Maple Leafs GM was thwarted in the final minutes before the free agent season opened when the identical Swedish twins signed new five-year deals averaging $6.1 million per season just before noon EST with the Vancouver Canucks.

Armed with lots of MLSE money and acres of precious salary cap space, Burke targeted the 28-year-old identical twins – Henrik is six minutes older than Daniel – as his No. 1 free agency priority. All signs suggested the Sedins would try free agency, but a last ditch offer by Vancouver GM Mike Gillis on Monday apparently was enough to meet their demands.

The Leafs probably would have been willing to go higher on salary, perhaps as high as $7 million per twin, but the talented brothers clearly wanted to stay on the west coast and opted not to entertain other offers. Burke would not have been able to make any overtures to the twins before noon EST.

He was in the air on his way to Stockholm when the deal was done, and received the news upon landing.

Blackhawks have to be looking at trading Campbell.

Or Huet. But they are in deep trouble next off-season.

That would be the ultimate screw over for the Habs and Gainey. The trade would come down to Higgins, Komisarek, McDonaugh Vs Gomez !!!

Should be canned if the Rags sign Komisarek... at lightning speed :help:

The gomez deal has nothing to do with the Komisarek situation.

If they trade Huet then they have to resign Bulin Wall..

Gomez doesn't get delt, Rangers can't afford ****.

So indirectly it has everything to do with it.

I can just see a spoof video of Sather tip-toeing around with Mission Impossible music playing in the background.

Quick! Something foolish and brash needs to be done, Glen to the rescue!

I can't stop thinking about a Chicago Vs New Jersey trade... Lou has to pick up the phone and ask about Barker or Keith.

Yes it did, the Gomez trade freed up cap space in order to sign Komisarek or any other UFA tey'll acquire during this offseason ;)
