Clemmer will go to whoever offers him the most cash. devilzrule27 07-01-2009, 12:19 AM Gionta it's impossible to know. Clemmer will go to whoever offers him the most cash. I think it's whoever offers him the most playing time. TZajac19 07-01-2009, 12:19 AM and gionta too.. any word on him? personally i hope he stays in jersey.. Gio is a good 2nd line right winger that is only like 29 or 30 and can pot 20 to 25 goals alot of teams can use that. So who knows i think he will be talked to by alot of teams Classic Devil 07-01-2009, 12:21 AM I think it's whoever offers him the most playing time. The investment of cash is essentially equivalent to an investment in Clemmensen. Whoever pays him the most values him the most and is most likely to give him playing time, whatever they might say in negotiations. devilzrule27 07-01-2009, 12:31 AM The investment of cash is essentially equivalent to an investment in Clemmensen. Whoever pays him the most values him the most and is most likely to give him playing time, whatever they might say in negotiations. I think there is a chance a team offers him a starter's job for less money and shorter contract he may jump at that. Classic Devil 07-01-2009, 12:35 AM I think there is a chance a team offers him a starter's job for less money and shorter contract he may jump at that. No team "offers the starting job." They offer the chance to earn a job in training camp. Das Uber 07-01-2009, 01:29 AM your arguing the terminology I used in my post. seriously. Speaking of terminology, it's "you're". Hehe. LOU4PREZIN08 07-01-2009, 01:32 AM I would not be surprised to see Gio head to Mtl. His, and Gomer's, best seasons were playing together. Gomer has a great break into the zone, and, at the time, Gio would clean up his garbage out front. It would be good for every party involved, except NJ, where the top 6 is very unsettled right now. No idea what the cap situation is there, BTW, not sure there's room for Gio. I would love to see Clemmer stay in Jersey, he held it together the best he could when we needed him, but I could not fault him for taking the best offer he could and hoping to get some decent playing time. Marty is still gonna probably play 70+ games if healthy (god willing), and Clemmer made his case to play more than 10 games a season. Um u mean Gio to MTL cause Gomez isnt on EDM lol devilzrule27 07-01-2009, 01:34 AM Speaking of terminology, it's "you're". Hehe.:laugh::laugh: You got me. Saugus 07-01-2009, 01:35 AM your arguing the terminology I used in my post. seriously. Maybe it's semantics, but I think CD is right. For someone like Clemmensen, teams are not offering the starter's job outright. They'd only do that if someone like Brodeur or Luongo hit the market. Instead, Clemmer will get a chance to compete with whoever the team already has in their system, and win the starting job. It's not a guarantee he will be a starter next year, no matter where he signs. LOU4PREZIN08 07-01-2009, 01:36 AM Um u mean Gio to MTL cause Gomez isnt on EDM lol Yup, my bad, was reading about the Heatley move at the same time, and must have had EDM on my mind. devilzrule27 07-01-2009, 01:39 AM Maybe it's semantics, but I think CD is right. My point is he isn't going to sign in NJ/Vancouver/Calgary and not have a chance to be a starter even if any of those teams offer him more money then say Phoenix(just an example). I'd think he's more inclined to go to Boston where he'd get more playing time for less money then what he would get if he re-upped with us. NJDevs26 07-01-2009, 01:41 AM One good thing about the Gomez trade, it lessens the chance of Gionta going to the Rangers though I wouldn't exactly put it past Sather entirely. If I had to guess I'd say the Pens for Gio, but that's pure speculation. He'll probably stay in the area but Buffalo may not have room for him, he isn't going to want to rot away on the Island. As far as Clemmensen, that'll be very interesting to see what happens. I don't think he's going to get offered a starting job but someone probably will offer him a one-way deal and 20-25 games of playing time. For the heck of it I'll say Buffalo (only needs a backup and Miller usually gets hurt), but anything'd really be a guess especially with other quality starters and backups available. I think Clemmer deserves to get a chance at being something more than a bench ornament. He won't get that here. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Gionta goes to Montreal, although I'm sure he's thinking about it. I think Vancouver could also be interested in him, but an offer from them is pending the Sedins' decision. Richer's Ghost 07-01-2009, 02:11 AM Sigh Xander Crews 07-01-2009, 04:35 AM Why would Gionta want to go to MTL?? Sure they might want him but id think he wouldnt want to go there. I mean hes not very close with Gomez like some other players on our team were so it not like hes going to play with an old friend. I would think he would want to play for a contender if hes going to make a major move, maybe a team close so he doesnt have to move much. He not Canadian so its not like he likes the team a bunch and might not want the spotlight of crazy Canadian fans. My guess would be Buffalo, and sadly the Pens if they dont resign all their wings (i dont keep track of them). Im sure the Habs want him but just cause they want him doesnt mean he has to go there. MissionHockey 07-01-2009, 04:51 AM Buffalo is pretty small already in their top six. I doubt they'd take him, but the Penguins I can see, especially if they let go of Sykora. MoonDragn 07-01-2009, 11:43 AM I think Gio really wants to stay. It will really depend on Lou if we keep him or not. I think Gio will try to stay on the east coast whatever happens.
