We still don't have enough room to splurge this year. Even if the cap stays the same, we still have Martin's raise to think about next year. I wouldn't go on a spending spree just because it went up slightly. I'm betting some GMs (see Sather, Glen) will, but I'm hoping Lou will be smarter than that and won't overpay.

$100K off of a ~$56M base is essentially the same as no change. I think next year is the one we have to worry about though.

exactly. No really big contracts, no long term deals for old players, and only smart moves that improve our team. No more of these lateral moves that don't make us better.
