I think we should trade down and take a gamble with Roussel. He's exactly the kind of defenseman we need. Also, if he was born three days later, he wouldn't be eligible until 2010. I'm convinced he'd be a top-15 pick next year.

100 percent agreed. I couldn't stop thinking about him (no homo) as a player last night that would be perfect for us. We could probably make a couple trades and pick up some 2nd and 3rd rounders to get down to the 29th or 30th slot and pick him.

I think Kaberle goes here Philly or Beantown. Here is least likely IMO.

I thought Kaberle would only get traded for a higher draft pick but apparently a team offered a player plus a draft pick for him according to TSN. Who really knows at this point. I just can't wait to watch it all aspire on TV tonight.

I think that deal would be pretty sweet for both teams. Toronto's in rebuild mode and Philly is looking to win now. Good deal for both if JVR pans out. I have a feeling Burke will try to get Giroux from them, but on the other hand I would hope if Holmgren was smart, he would hang up the phone right there.

I hope Tavares doesn't suffer from Stamkos syndrome. That poor lad was hyped to an unfair level. It's not like he had a bad rookie season by any stretch, but expectations for him were so high. Hopefully JT can speak with his play.

Stamkos started to turn it around towards the end of the year. Stamkos' real issue was the team he was on didn't know what it wanted to do. They wanted to win last year and Stamkos probably should've been down in juniors instead of getting 4th line minutes. Then when they realized they suck and went into rebuilding mode his minutes increased and his play picked up.

The odd part is that their is a good amount of young talent on that team too. They have a good goalie. A great top line. Stamkos, Maszaros, Ranger, and some others but the team is just so poorly run they waste all the talent. The Matt Carle situation was a fine example of how far they have their heads up their *****.

He won't. Stamkos suffered not from the hype but because his coaches/the entire organization didn't know what the **** they were doing with him for 2/3rds of the year, ingeniously managing to find the developmental dead-zone between rushing and not rushing him.

The user's manual with Tavares comes with about one instruction: put him on the powerplay. He'll get his shots and he'll get his goals starting day 1.

There's no question that with the talent on their team they could have been a playoff team rather than a lottery team. Lecavalier and MSL, anyone? Yet they find a way to suck. I think Lecavalier will be dealt tonight. It's time for them to cash in.

Not gonna lie, I'm actually pretty pumped to see Tavares in our division. I'm definitely going to make a point of watching the Isles' home opener. He is going to spark a renaissance tonight.

I liked what I read about Landon Ferraro. 17-year old center who scored 37 goals (9th best in the WHL) for an awful Red Deer Rebels team. He reportedly has speed to burn and an innate knack to hit the back of the net. Son of Ray Ferraro, not that that should matter much in his selection.

I just think it's really impressive that a kid younger than his piers and on a bad team could do that well. His assist totals would undoubtedly rise if he had better teammates.

That whole franchise is a circus. Koules is out of his mind, Barrie's not much better. They were advertising films on their goalie's mask at one point. Can you imagine Marty putting up with that? If they tried to make him do that, he would tell them to go **** themselves and then continue pimping that MB30 rubbish he's got now. Also, their defence is a complete mess. They had like 50 different defencemen suited up at one point or another over the past season.

Atlanta has made it known that the 4th overall pick is available....!!!

I'd trade this years 1st and 3rd (#23 and #84), next year's 2nd rounder plus choice of Jay Pandolfo or Bryce Salvador for the pick!

We still have #54 this year along with #72.

funny, I actually had a dream that we someone picked Brayden Schenn. That could happen! Then we use #54 for a defenseman and #72 on a goalie.

Thoughts?

I know..just dreaming...we need some top noth prospects and that pretty tough when you constantly pick in the bottom half.....if you can trade up for a potential star, why no try..

If they stand pat, and assuming no one falls to far,I'd be happy with any one of the following:

D-men: DeHaan, Rundblad, Erixon, Olsen
Forwards: Josefson, Kreider, Ashton.

I'm mixed on Palmeri and Holland.

if some one starts to slip down to the late teens(18-20 range) then I could see Lou trading up a few spots to grab them but to trade up to the top 10 from the mid 20's takes a lot of assets and in a draft that is as deepas this it's probably not worth doing.

I agree... a top 10 is a stretch without giving up alot. However, Boston was rumored to be interested in trading up a couple of spots for a guy they think will be available at 23rd. That's our pick! Maybe we can move back 2 places to 25th, as we did with Washington last year, and pick up another 2nd rounder (Boston's would be number 56 I think). Theres a good chance at least one of the above guys will be around at #25. Rumor is Boston likes Kreider...but so do I!

Today has been dragging on forever. And with my luck, of course I didn't end up going to the draft party.

And watching NHL Network has me thinking that I don't really care what position our first round pick plays. By the time a 20-something overall pick is ready to make an impact, a franchise's situation can change so dramatically. I don't think you can go wrong just picking the BPA.

That will start the riots on LI. They all there want Tavaras, you could probably sell them on Hedman but to pass on both will put the Coliseum upin flames.

Maybe that's what the Islanders want as then the county will be forced to build it. :sarcasm:

Yes. Let's be honest basically none of the Islander fans know who these players are and none of them have seen them play. This isn't like football and basketball where they are on US tv all the time. The only way they see these guys play is if they have NHL Network and then you are only watching them once or twice max. All they here is Tavaras once broke Gretzky's 16-year-old scoring record and they want him.

I agree. He is so explosive, almost Crosby-esque and his overall game is better than Tavares.

I think Stammer will turn out a bit better than Zach. I would trade alot to get him in the old red and black.

kyle evs48
06-26-2009, 06:35 PM
I like Tavares, his skating can get better. That nose for the net is un-teachable....

I think Stamkos is better than Tavares and Hedman though.

If Lecavalier is dealt (which I don't think he will be), then we could see that much more of Stammer's talent.

Stammer is in a very poor situation, though. Tampa is so terribly managed.

Devilsfanatic
06-26-2009, 06:38 PM
Tampa is smart to keep asking the Leafs for Schenn. He's the only player on that roster worth asking for. And if Hedman is at 2, you make that trade in a heartbeat because Hedman is miles ahead of Schenn.

You have to watch this with the closed captioning on. Whoever is typing it can't understand the Canadian accents.

Add Pronger to this years Flyers, and the Penguins don't get past the first round.

im actually kinda excited now. we have a reason to boo Pronger even louder when he comes to town, which is more often.

It's really a great trade for Philly. They give up nothing that they need; with the depth the team has in prospects Sbisa and the firsts are a luxury. Lupul is a good asset, but nothing astounding.

Totally agree. They have one of the best prospect pools in the league with JVR, Giroux, etc.

So why do they need all these prospects when you have their young talent already on the team and waiting in the wings?

thats actually a pretty nice story. good for Duchene.

Damn he wore the red tie and everything to match the jersey, I am happy for him. Colorado, barring a stupid decision, should be able to be comfortable with Duchene as being a part of the Colorado Avalanche for the rest or good part of his career.

So, capologists... how does Philly field a team with another HUGE contract on board?!
