With another bad Regina season over with, and Bob Lowes' contract expiring, it seems like he is done as the Pats head coach. They obviously have to replace him, but who will it be? I think it'll be assistant coach and former Pats goalie Chad Mercier, or former Pats goalie and Saskatoon Blades coach Jamie Reeve. Who do you think it could be?

Parker isn't the easiest Owner and GM to work for?

There are a lot of candidates that are availible to replace him, but the question is, who else could Parker find that is a two-time WHL coach of the year? no-one.
It's just really unfortunate that so many players walked out on the team this year...... In my opinion, if there is a coaching change, it will be because of "the walkout" . . . . But who knows.. maybe change is good right about now... As far as who would replace him.. There are probably a handful of top notch guys that could easily step right in (who are looking for coaching positions).. so who knows..

Apparently, according to Robbie Vanstone, Curtis Hunt's name is in the hat. He's signed to an extension, and the Warriors GM said he'd be back next year, but when Curtis himself was asked about his future next year, he didn't comment.
I hope he would come an coach the Pats. He's a great coach, and someday he's gonna be an NHL coach. I'd also like to see a guy I actually know behind the Pats bench.

Well, Dean Evason was fired today by the Giants, maybe he'd be a replacement?

Looks like Curtis Hunt is in fact in the race. He resigned today from his post as Moose Jaw Warriors Head Coach. Parker's gonna bend over backwards to sign him, and he lived in the area while he was unemployed, so I'm gonna predict he goes to Regina.

Looks like the top 3 Candidates are:
1)Chad Mercier
2)Curtis Hunt
3)Dean Chynoweth
One thing that made me think a little is that Parker told the media this was Merciers "year" and that he "payed his dues" whether he gets the job here or with another team. I wonder if he will remain behind the pats bench (either as a head coach or as an assistant) or if he will perhaps land a head coaching position with another team. :dunno:
I don't think any1 who gets behind the pats bench next season will have the credentials that bobby lowes had, but it sounds like whoever gets the job will be a quality person, which is good news in itself.
Personally, I think Hunt or Mercier will be getting the nod, but I guess one never knows until the deal is official.

I know Hunt's wife works in Regina and his son and Parker's play on the same hockey team. I also believe Hunt has been commuting from Regina to Moose Jaw. So the Pats look like a good fit considering he was recently released from his contract with the Warriors. HOWEVER, Hunt has stated he wanted to be released from his contract because he had a talk with his family about going somewhere else because there were opportunities to be coach and general manager. Could this mean Saskatoon? Because I don't see Parker giving up his GM duties with the Pats anytime soon.
Word is Dean Evason is being looked at for the Wheat Kings opening.
So the list of who's looking for what in the East Division is:
Regina: coach
Moose Jaw: coach
Brandon: coach
Saskatoon: coach and gm
Five openings in one division not to mention the rest of the league. WOW. Look for a lot of these spots to be filled before the end of May and before the Import Draft later this summer.
