Gionta took a nasty cross check in the back from Sutton. Gomez threw a punch. Elias stepped in on G's behalf. Sutton and White had a quick fight.

For what? And what happened with Gionta?
gionta was parked in front of the thrashers net when first andy sutton cross-checked him from behind and gionta went face first to the ice. when he got up again, majesky was there and planted his (gloved) fist right in gios face. then a lot of shoving ensued. not quite clear to me what elias did to get a misconduct--he was nowhere near sutton or majesky.

The Sutton 5 minute charge was a joke(definitely a 2 min crosscheck), the Simon board was a joke, and the elbow on Petrovicky was a joke.

Devils Win! 5-0 Over Atlanta. 3 Power Play Goals! Elias 1 G, 3 A! Scott Clemmensen with the Shutout Win as He Makes 18 Saves.

For those who didn't get to watch the game on Fox Sports NY, Chico Resch talked about Scott Niedermayer and the Norris Trophy. He said, going around the league, that he hears great things from coaches and sports writers about Niedermayer. I think a fine case can be made for the Devils acting-captain. He is not too far behind Gonchar for points lead among defensemen, and he is great in his own zone.

They were saying on the radio that Martin reminds them more and more of Niedermayer. I don't think Martin will ever be as fast or as good as Niedermayer in terms of getting back on defense - but I think he'll make up for it by being more of a point man.

I love Mad Dog to death and is perhaps one of the five most important players on the team and might be the perfect third line center in the entire league but the man really has no true offensive moves whatsoever, he's got a good shot and that's about it. But despite all that he is the man, thank god he's ours.
