There will be 13 seconds of 4-on-4 followed by 58 seconds of PK for New Jersey (Niedermayer picked up an interference call.)

The Devils looked sluggish at the beginning, but turned things up. Brodeur is pretty sharp in goal.
Ray Giroux had a good scoring chance during the 4-on-4. He came down the right wing and let a shot go that Khabibulin sent to the LW corner. It would have been the first NHL goal for Giroux.

Hey, I have an idea. Let's trade Mike Rupp for a 3rd line center that we expect to play great defensively, then let's bench him because he's not scoring enough! Yeah, way to go Burns! Another player in your dog house!

I'm sure Hrdina is thrilled to be playing for New Jersey. He had a whopping 10 games to prove what he could do in a new system. This is why guys hate coming to this team.

explain the difference between what Rasmusen did in 1st to the junk call that gave a fake 5-3. insanly bad call. and trust me you really pumped up 20k+ of true fans with that garbage call and the team will NOT lose tonight since they got totally outraged of that hideous 5-3 call

Oh well. Bad calls eventually even out. The Devils have been hosed on calls as well this year.

Viktor Kozlov gets the game winning goal for Tampa Bay against his own team, off his skate. It makes me puke.

Well, there goes the effort in Florida on Tuesday. Gain two points on Ottawa and Toronto, then lose them both tonight. Oh, and Philly lost to some goaltender for NY named Biezelciwicz or something.

Now we'll kill Atlanta, but lose to NY at home Sunday. It's the vicious cycle.

This team hasn't won any big games in the past 3 months. They usually step up when the games mean more but lately they've been playing just well enough to make them close. They better turn that around come playoff time or they're in for a rude awakining.

Although Scott Neidermeyer is playing great as the captain I'm not sure he's the captain the Devils need (He's very soft spoken). Of course they need Stevens and his leadership. Hopefully he'll be back soon. Stevens would not accept these losses regardless of how well the team played.

Last year when the Devils came back to tie the Red Wings Stevens would have nothing of it. They need a game like that this season. All I've been hearing is that "we played well but didn't get the bounces." That is unacceptable. They have to play better so they don't need the bounces and someone needs to speak up.

NJ has scored 4 PP goals in their last 47 chances. Talk about terrible.... :shakehead

I completely concur.
It's like the whole mindset of the team is different when Stevens wears the C.
I love Niedermayer to death, but even though he's a d-man, he's still more offensive-minded, and it seems to change the attitude of those following under his leadership. Honestly, I thought Madden should have got the C in the interim, or at least have a rotating captaincy.
Oh well...things will change when #4 returns. Stevens leads the way both in the lockerroom and on the ice.

Agreed. It also seems like Neidermeyer is OK with losing but playing well. I don't that is actually is the case but I believe his personality conveys that attitude. Meanwhile Stevens would take no BS.

It's like a school teacher, one teacher would be a great teacher but would grade easily. That's Neidermeyer. Stevens is that hard ass who expects 110% out of his students and won't be afraid to speak up if he's not getting that.

I don't get it, which really pisses me off because I work nights and this is the second time in a row were I had the day off and the Devils happen to be playing and once again I would look forward to it to find out just before game time that I won't be able to.
