Would you keep this year's AHL playoff format?

What does we all think? The play-in round between 4 and 5 seed along with more teams included (20 of 28 possible) are definitely new this season. Your thoughts on it? Go back to old format? Experiment with the new one? Experiment with an alternate one?

If it gives my Barons another shot at a spot, I'm all up for that. :p

Ok I was a little confused about the format but I get it now thanks for posting that link.

Didnt understand the whole 5 teams from each Division thing.

So essentially only 8 teams can miss the playoffs?

Yeah, since top 5 from each division go and there are 4 divisions with 28 total teams, we can all do the math. Might be an interesting Calder Cup, I'm planning on quite the fight with 20 teams involved.

We're holding onto 3rd place right now by one point but it's not clinched yet. Could possibly clinch it tonite...I think:) Any Barons fans feel free to clear that up...

I'm not crazy about the playoff format, but it's a little easier on the heart when your team has a good shot at making the playoffs, even if the team isn't great. Regular season losses aren't as frustrating as they are in the NHL.
