A casual fan posed me the question of how this year's Team Canada at the World Championhsip would do, if they would contend for the cup. I believe they would be favorites for the cup is more like. No doubt in my mind a lineup of:
Heatley spezza Doan
St.Louis Roy Stamkos
Fisher Horcoff Zajac
Upshall Lombardi Armstrong
Neal (injured)
Weber Hamhuis
Coburn Phillips
Vlasic Doughty
Schenn
White (injured)
Roloson
Mason
Harding
Cup champion team easily right there. Thoughts?

salary cap says no
Cap hit would be around 77 million so they would need to cut many players. But I think their defense is good cap-wise too (around 18M), forwards need to be changed, mostly on first/second line.

Third line is way expensive, too. It would cost like $14M next season with Horcoff and Zajac's extensions.

Well if they were allowed to go over the cap they would be the clear cut favorites I'd say.

Remove Fisher and Horcoff and that's almost $10M right there. :laugh: I don't think Zajac has been extended yet.
Phillips is brutal also, I'd take him out. Take out Roloson too.
