If there is a lockdown year, in what ways do you think it will affect the Q?

I think that players like Patrick Bergeron will come back, because the NHL teams will let their 20-24 years old players who have a 2-way contract to go in the AHL

I also think that the quality of European players will be better, because if NHL players go play in Europe, there will be less place for the young players and they will be more interested to come in north america

There will be an increase of the attendances. There wil be games on TV, 3 months ago, president Courteau confirmed he was already preparing for such a scenario and was looking for the interest of broadcasters who will have a lot of available time to use if there is ever a locck-out.

That means more money for the league and the teams, which is not bad.

Finally, that would also means that Crosby will be more followed by media and fans. If it is still possible!

Where do you think guys like Bouchard and Bergeron will play?

Well, I think Bouchard's rights now belong to Quebec. I'm pretty sure he'll be 20 next season, and Roy would no doubt welcome him into the fold whole-heartedly.

As for Bergeron, his return as a 19-year-old would surely hasten Bathurst's rebuilding plan. :)

Bouchard would play AHL.

He would be 20. I suspect that is where Minny would send him anyway, lockout or no lockout.

IIRC, there would be a problem with the AHL going ahead as scheduled if the NHL went into a lockout situation. I don't know the specifics but it has something to do with two way contracts and such. I don't remember much about it.

Whether the NHL enters a lockout next year or not, my hockey focus will be on the CHL anyway. With all of the crap that's gone on in the NHL this year, I think it's time to get back to hockey's roots and watch something is accessible and affordable at the same time.

I would love to see the Q (and the CHL as a whole) get some national TV time. It would be great for the leagues and would probably attract new sponsors. That can't hurt in the long run at all.

I think I remember hearing about that too, something about having to be in the AHL this year to play next year, not too sure and it's never been fully explained (at least not to my knowledge). Definitely worth looking into.

You're just saying that because of the roster Halifax is looking to assemble for next season. :P

So you guys think that attendance will be over the roof?

and what you think about exposure, will it effect that?

Roy said that he would like to keep Stockov for next year if there is no NHL and Stockov likes the idea so far.

that could look good for the Rimouski/Quebec rivality. Hennessy Stockov Bouchard VS Crosby Pouliot Roussin

You are right for Shkotov, he said this week he would play with ous if there's a lockout. But forget bouchard, if he is going to LHJMQ, he will play with chicoutimi.

But now, i was at the remparts game tonight and here is the last rumor... Alexander Ovechkin with remparts... I know this look like crazy but Roy is going to russia next month and if there's a lock out, who know what can happen!! Apparantly, Alexander said that québec is the only place he would accept to play if he cannot play NHL next year... it's just a rumor but with this possible lock out, we will hear so many! We'll see, but one thing is sur, patrick Roy will look for him!!! :)

Bouchard's rights have been retraded to Chicoutimi in january so he would comeback with Chicoutimi if not traded

PMB would play in the AHL!!

He would be 20. He is already signed. Therefore AHL.

That is where Minny would send him anyway. He doesnt play much in the NHL and going to the AHL would be good for him. But they cant this year because he is 19.

That's a part of it, for sure. But even this year, I was more interested in the Q than I was in the NHL. The suspensions, whining (from players, coaches, GMs, owners, Bettman, fans, etc.) has really soured the NHL for me. I still enjoy it but the endless back and forth banter got to me.

And like I said, I can afford to buy season tickets to unbelievably good hockey. A group of friends and I had to cancel a road trip to Montreal this year because tickets to the Habs games were too damn expensive for some of the guys. Tough luck.

CHL hockey is much better than NHL.

More entertaining, more passion.

Just my opinion

Agreed 100%. These boys are playing to make it. Not for contract incentives, bonuses, etc.

I'm not saying NHLers don't give it their all. They do. I just think that CHL hockey means more to the players than it does to the fans. Whereas NHL hockey means more to the fans than it does to the players.

Bouchard's right in the Q belong to Chicoutimi.
As for Bergeron at 19, he will have to play in the Q fi he wants to play somewhere and I think that the Titans will benefit greatly of his presence.
If Gervais comes back also, I think that the Titans could throw a wrench in a couple of teams' dreams for the Cup in 2004-2005.

He could play in Europe, especially considering the great showing he had at he World Championships. Many European coaches seen him play.

Also you wont throw a wrench anywhere. 2 players do NOT make a below .500 team with no goalie a contender.

Throwing a wrench like meaning more competition in a Division that is supposed to be a free ride with Bathurst,CB, Moncton and PEI rebuilding.
If you think that Gervais and Bergeron would not make a huge difference on a Titan team, wait till you see it.As for a goaltender, the Titans pretty well solved as much that problem as Halifax did with Churchill who is surely not a real contender
goaltender.

I heard a rumour that in a lockout situation, the teams would be allowed to increase their overagers form 3 to 5, but I cannot remember where I heard that, and nobody else seems to remember hearing that.

I agree, I prefer the CHL, (and WHL in particular) to the NHL lately, as the kids seem to play with more heart than the millionaires do. It is affordable and accessible too. I just wish I could get Rogers Sportsnet in the States!
