It's alright. We are so much the better team than them. The cream rises to the top and we will win both the next two games. It will be very sweet to beat this team and knock them out on their home ice.

Losing obviously sucks but I honestly think losing the way they did was much better than the alternatives. If they hadn't come back there would be nothing positive to take out of this game and losing in OT after working so hard to tie it up would be disheartening. The way they lost they should be pissed and be on a mission in the next two games. Marty calling the refs awful might get some calls for goalie interference (or their disgraceful diving) in the next games.

Thursday is going to be insane. So pumped.

This loss hurts..but the big picture is still that the series is tied 2-2 and we have a chance to win the series.

Marty kept the team in the game when it was 3-0 when it could have easily been 5 or 6-0. Granted, the Devils lost a heartbreaker. Good teams rebound from this type of defeat. I'm not saying that it's a good thing they lost..but they could rally around this type of loss. Marty was fired up after the game and in his post-game comments. When was the last time you saw that type of passion from him. He is usually calm, and collective. When your FRANCHISE player is that fired up and disgusted, it can be a rallying point. The team needs to be hungry, fired up and angry for Thursday's game. Over the years the Devils have always been resiliant, hopefully this will be the case for the 08-09 team.

We showed more pride than every beofre tonight. Easily could of gave up when they were throwing 100 shots on nets up 3-0 on a powerplay late in the 2nd period.

Thurshday i expect the devils to destroy the canes. Their team isn't even in our league.

The 'canes got lucky tonight. We had a couple mistakes that cost us early but the way we played the last half of the game was a sign that this team is not gonna give up and they can battle back in even the most deperate situations (without one of their best players).

Cam Ward did not look good tonight. You take another look at how the second and third goals were scored and Ward was just frozen on both of them. He had plenty of time to recover. That Clarkson goal might have been the slowest goal I've seen since I've been a hockey fan. I celebrated before he even put that one in.

Also Carolina blew a three goal lead. We are in business folks.

well, they don't like Sutter so it's a + he didn't spazz out. he's learning as a coach.
he went bat**** insane over far far less last season.

Also, now that Im (almost) over the game, although Ill probably be thinking about it nonstop until Thursday here are some more positives:

1) The Canes have NEVER had the lead in this series, and NEVER WILL. (Im referring to games won, not goals scored)

2) There is still a good chance we would have lost in overtime and would have been sitting in this same position, except our ****** overtime record would be overblown again. This loss should get the players fired up, especially Marty

3) The team showed guts coming back like that when they were down and out for 39 minutes.

4) Parise isnt the only one that can score.

5) We ALMOST got a powerplay goal


And, one last note: ELIAS, WAKE THE **** UP!!

As long as they come out strong in Game 5 and use their anger to their advantage rather then allowing it to make them sloppy Devils should have this in 6. Langs comes back in Game 6, GWG in the 3rd.

Honestly, though I felt hosed by the refs, this has been a great series.

I wish I can pretend like it was 2007 and we just game off of a OT win in Tampa to tie the series 2-2.

I am quietly getting over this loss. Of course, we all think of the 2006 incident, when Luko did not stop Staal and we basically lost the series there. However close these two incidents are, I think there are way too many differences to say, this is it, for the non-believers that is. But, I believe, what happened last night will decide the series one way or another.

First of all, different than a few years back, we are not behind in the series. Falling back 0-2 is quite hard to come back from, so we are now tied 2-2, still have home ice advantage and have shown that we can beat them.

Secondly, this Carolina team is tough, very fast and very very dangerous, but this is not the 2006 team either. So, no reason to panic yet.

However, I believe that we will show one of two possible reactions.

1= we come out flying, playing with the edge we had in game 1, with anger and will win Game 5, and eventually the series.

2 = this team is not able to digest what transpired last night, they are beaten down, they probably have no Captain for tomorrow either, probably no Salvador, one of the tougher D on our team and they just do not get it done and will be beaten by the Canes tomorrow and on Sunday.

Personally, I believe we will be quite good tomorrow. We will win this game, in regulation time by a score of 4 2 (Empty net goal by Madden) and then we all know, this team has beaten its Nemesis, bring the rest on.

If they win this series, they will win the Cup. No team is facing this much adversity in the first round. The injuries and the last second goals. No team.

That's silly. There's not reason to "hate" the Canes as it's not their fault they were giftwrapped a game by NHL officials last night. They're dang lucky to not be down 3-1 right now, but it's not their fault.

They have 2 or 3 (depending on your perspective) serial-divers on that team that are well-known league wide for it, hate on those guys if you want, but I see no reason to hate the entire team.

Well if you don't play over 50% of the game, you can't expect to win.

Hopefully the Devils remember that tenacity and can hold it for some length of time on Thursday night and carry through to game 6 and close it out. I can't imagine why the 'Canes give the Devils such a hard time in the Playoffs.

They got solid depth.

Just because other players aren't household names, doesn't mean they're bad

Carolina has speed that has given our D fits throughout the regular season and playoffs. They are a smallish type of team, but a team that will give anyone a tough time b/c of their speed. Staal is a tremendous player, Whitney has speed and sees the ice well, Cole and Ruutu are solid. They have a solid, well coached team w/ good goaltending obviously.

Why I'm confident:
-We're at home in front of a raucous, sellout crowd
-I can't imagine Marty losing this series after his transcendent performance in Game 5
-I still think this team as a whole has more in it than another first-round flameout after what they showed for much of the season
-In Jamie's second game back I think that line will have its chemistry back and Parise/Zajac are due to break out anyway
-We haven't lost two in a row yet
-Our PK's been much improved over the regular season
-It should be more important for us to win since we're an older team and the window ain't gonna be open too much longer

Why I'm scared:
-46, 44 and 35 shots against the last three games
-This is Carolina and they still have our number till we prove otherwise
-Eventually you pay for no-showing time and again
-Because Sutter's coaching scared
-Elias is hurt, Zubrus and Rolston are useless, the checking line doesn't know how to score
-We can't clear a puck out of our own zone to save our lives
-We can't score on the PP to save our lives (other than Clarkson's tip)
-All it takes in Game 7 is one favorable flop to get called for Carolina
-I've seen too many 100-point seasons go to absolute waste
-Carolina plays like it's more important for them to win because of their hatred of everything Devils.

Why I believe: Because last night was such a disgrace and humiliation, not to show up in a game 6, that they have no alternative but to win.

But, this team looks like a 2 round out. Paging: Elias, Parise, Zajac, Rolston, Martin. Maybe we're just better off with a higher draft pick. :shakehead

What I still can't understand, morning after this recent disaster, how this team could be so dominant in January and February and up until March 17th, and then look totally unmotivated and clueless in April. And don't give me the end of the season slump. That's ********. This team came out in Game 1 and played like the team we saw most of the season.

If they bow out tomorrow, a very likely possibility, this will be the most disappointing early defeat for me since 1999. It's inexcusable how Sutter could have a picture perfect game plan throughout the season and then totally go away from it in April. Just makes no ****ing sense to me. I swear, I went from optimism at 7:29 yesterday to complete pessimism 3 hours later.

Losing is one thing. The Canes are a good team and sometimes you just have to tip your cap. But, to come out as the Devils did, is truly shocking to me. Some people will say what's the difference in losing 2-1 in OT or 4-0, like last night? The answer is effort. And there was none by the Devils, which is a bad sign if you ask me.

There was effort, it just went nowhere. Elias and Madden's line looked pretty good even though they didn't score. Parise worked hard as usual.

The biggest problem last night was the same problem as the game before.. Carolina's defence is pretty sick.

They better be watching a whole lot of tape today to figure out how to get better chances in front of the net or we're in for another repeat performance. I think they can do it, but you can't help but be worried.

Carolina's defense is terrible defensively. That is why we can break them down with a whole lot of forechecking. Remember Gionta's first goal, when Corvo put the puck on his tape? That was one of the worst turnovers Ive ever seen. How bout his second goal, when the Canes D completely missed their coverage and HAVELID (everyones scapegoat) gave Gionta an easy breakaway pass. Carolinas D is definitely prone to break downs, but we have to forecheck hard to exploit them. They are also not very good in front of their net. Most of our goals this series have come off of tips or rebounds. They need to crash the net tomorrow. Remember Clarkson's first goal? He had all day to put that in.

Well considering we had maybe 2 legit scoring chances last night and a handful the game before, we can't run the cycle in the corner, we can't get shots off at the point and we're scoring goals by tipping shots sent wide of the net.. I'd call that good defence. Not to mention how aggressive on the puck they are in their own zone while we stand around in ours and let them set up.

I really don't know where you got the idea they were terrible. I guess our scoring woes are 100% the Devils fault.
