I was doing a search on the Devils in the trademark database, and stumbled upon the newest trademark registered by the Devils, a (rather ugly) service mark. Can anyone make sense of this?

One7nine 04-19-2009, 09:18 AM Maybe it's going to be one of the new bars or restaurants
Sarge18 04-19-2009, 12:46 PM It's what the Goal Bar turns into after Friday and Saturday night games. They throw a DJ up there and think it becomes a club.
None Shall Pass 04-19-2009, 01:27 PM That looks like it belongs on that website I made in HTML. :(

 So true.
snyddogg430 04-19-2009, 02:00 PM It's a movie about a group of career-AHLers playing on an NHL team in New Jersey that find out that the team is being moved to Las Vegas at the end of the season. Jason Bateman plays David Clarkson, Eddie Murphy plays Oduya, Salvador, and Weekes, and Stephen Gionta plays Brian Gionta.

jkrdevil 04-19-2009, 02:30 PM I thought this was going to be about our old fondling mascot.

We had a sex offender mascot?
devilzrule27 04-19-2009, 02:43 PM We had a sex offender mascot?
slapshot the sex offending hockey puck.
jkrdevil 04-20-2009, 06:58 AM We had a sex offender mascot?
Yes. For 92-93 the first year we had a mascot it was a giant hockey puck with devil horns. Apprently he fondled some of the female vendors at the Meadowlands while in costume. He ended up getting arrested and Slap shot disappeared for obvious reasons.

The next year the current mascot (93-94) showed up, which is a fer better mascot than a puck.
BenedictGomez 04-20-2009, 07:17 AM I thought this was going to be about our old fondling mascot.
I started a thread about him a few months back, looking for a decent resolution photo of Slapshot for my Devils collection.
Came up empty. It's as is his very existence was scrubbed from history. So if anyone has something, I'm still looking.
The ultimate would be to find one of the glossy mascot 8x10s they give to schoolchildren, but alas, it's merely an EBAY dream. :(
EDIT: And for those too young to remember, honest to God he was (IMO) creepy as **** and probably scared as many small children as he brought joy to.
Classic Devil 04-20-2009, 09:26 AM We had a sex offender mascot?
Yeap.
Richer's Ghost 04-20-2009, 10:51 AM I thought we just had a sex offender goal celebration song... hmph. I'll be damned.
Game Breaker 04-20-2009, 12:08 PM I feel like when I see that logo, I should hear some cheezy 80s sound synthesizer.

Wasn't Megan's Law started in New Jersey?
I remember being really young when that happened, and thinking it was close to Brick.

From wiki: Megan's home state of New Jersey passed the first so-called "Megan's Law" in 1994.[5]

Yes, I remember that. My brother and I talk about him sometimes, and it almost became an urban legend. Thank God you found this article that proves it really did happen.
Although, he must not have been very discriminating if he was fondling Meadowlands vendors....ewwwwww.
Game Breaker 04-20-2009, 04:11 PM I could have made a better logo with an etch a sketch.

So folks do some amazing etch a sketch artwork.

Pierre McGuire was born here, of course it was started here.

That's such poor taste. Which is why it is funny.

I heard they're trying to put a similar law into effect in Canada now that Pierre is there, but they're going to call it Sidney's Law.
