I'm not trying to be a downer or anything here, but I really don't EXPECT a Devils win the first game at the canes barn but it surely would be nice.

I still think we win the series, but I think we take game 4 from them to maintain home ice advantage and take games 5 and 6 or 7 at home ice.

I like our chances tonight:

- We outplayed CAR for much of Game 2, and they MUST feel they let that one slip away; they have too much pride not to be pissed off
- Holik is a competitor - he hasn't played in some time and WILL NOT ACCEPT being an extra player - he has a chip on his shoulder in GOOD times and will come through tonight.
- Rolston still has the tools - before his injury I was thrilled with his play - he needs to shake off the mental rust and go with the flow; playing with Travis and Zach is a really good way for ANY player to get on their game; Rolston can really be energized here
- There's a chance that Carolina is getting comfortable... they did win 3 of 4 in the regular season... and now won another tight one.. they may think they have the edge... dangerous, that, with this team.
- Sutter is a smart hockey coach.

Zubrus is a monster on the puck. He also has decent enough hands to make plays. If that line started a cycle it would take a while to get the puck from em.

That said, Shanahan on the line could just hang by the top of the circle and wait. The name of the line would have to change to ZZ-PopPops

I like the idea of Rolston up there, as others have stated it's still to break up multiple lines to cover for the loss of one player. Keeping our 2nd line intact is big, they've played well together and have a good chemistry.

Third line ain't doing too shabby either, now what scares me is this from TG earlier today:

I hope they do Vincenzo. I was playing NHL 09 and in the past two days I've beat the Canes 7-5 and 8-5. Rolston was instrumental in the victories......signs? I hope so!

Carolina will not able to match the intensity they had in game 2. and they only beat us in OT. I think this team will not be prone to a meltdown on the road. Jamie will be a rallying point as opposed to a reason for NJ to crumble. Adversity has been the name of the game all year for the Devils and what is just a little bit more to start the playoffs. Carolina is not a team you were going to beat (Counting final game of season) 5 times in a row. That being said game 3 looms large in establishing which winning team from the previous 2 games is the one more able to dictate the flow of play.

Devils find a way tonight. This will not be a game decided by our big guns, but by our Role guys chipping in.

Tonight is an important game in regards to the Devils' psyche. How they respond losing in OT to a game they had control of and played well for the most part is pivitol. If they play like they did in games 1 & 2, I'm confident. Just execute on the PP (1 for 10 will not cut it) and take the crowd out of the game early. Come out firing like they did in the first period of game 2 w/ hopes they are able to finish their scoring chances. The obvious guys need to step up..Rolston is given a golden oppurtunity now as he should get plenty of ice time and play w/ guys who are more offensively gifted. The depth we have on the team should give us a chance to win w/out Langenbrunner.

What do you expect there is a different excitement level for the first round for a team in the playoffs for the first time in a couple years and a team that has made the playoffs for 12 straight years. The crowd in Detroit excitement wise was similar to the NJ crowd. It's hard to get worked up for the first round when getting there has been a given for over a decade.

Devils are gonna need an early goal to take the crowd out of it.
