XParise9X 04-16-2009, 02:15 AM Really great comments from Shanny too even when he was a Ranger and some funny comments from Staal . The only thing that worries me is like everyone else he says what he wants most is to win and I cant help but worry that maybe after his contracts up he'll feel he has a better chance of winning elsewhere. Hope not. hes not only a great player but a really nice guy.

Crimson Devil 04-16-2009, 02:24 AM "He would come up to Thunder Bay (Ontario) with his Minnesota team," Staal said, "and they used to win the tournament, he used to get MVP and I would sit there on the losing team."
Haha, the trend continues for you Staal.

Besides Detroit, this is his best bet when it comes to winning. I'm not worried about that. Zach seems like a team player.

lol Detroit was my exact though, Hossa came to mind quickly.
And Zach does seem like a team played but then again if you asked me a few years back if Gomez would go to the Rangers because of money I'd have said I doubted it
donGjohnson 04-16-2009, 02:32 AM Parise is one of my hockey heroes. The talent and work ethic he has should make Alexei Kovalev bow in shame...

Not to mention he's an RFA when his contract runs up. I'll say it again, the 7yrs/50 mill we give him say he's not going anywhere. He's a good, down to earth, loyal kid. He'll be a devil for life.
XParise9X 04-16-2009, 02:39 AM I definatly hope so. And not only because - like every other female Devils fan...and half the male ones for that matter lol- im in love with him :D
I guess the one to worry about this offseason is Zajac but considering his relationship with Parise and his success on the ZZpop line this season I doubt hes going anywhere.
According to THIS (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=417436) article he considers Parise like a big brother so I have a feeling he'll re sign with no problems.
Blitz113 04-16-2009, 09:29 AM Nice comments by Shanny. Sign Zach to a nice, 8 year deal, Lou!
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2009, 09:41 AM Well, if there's any player Lou should consider giving a 10 year contract to, it's Zach and the future C.
DEVILS ALL THE WAY 04-16-2009, 09:49 AM Zach is the picture perfect "franchise player" for this organisation... A skilled played to will outwork everyone game in game out. Gomez has nothing over Parise, he was a selfish ******* and still is IMO.
Gomez left a better organisation for the lime light of the big apple and the $$$... I really don't see Parise being that retarded once he hits UFA status.
I HAVE FAITH IN LOU TO LOCK HIM LONG TERM !!!

And Shanahan with some great comments, this is my favorite.
In the handshake line after a first-round postseason loss for the Devils last spring, a rival player stopped a dejected Zach Parise for a few extra seconds to pass along a message.
"You are going to be a great player in this league," Brendan Shanahan, then with the Rangers, told the young forward. "I love the way you play the game."
He may go somewhere else, you never know. But his character will not change. When he was at No Dak, his offensive skills were obvious, but he set himself apart in the corners, along the boards, and on PK. Smart, hard worker, and totally committed.

I'm not one for ridiculously long deals, but.....
8 years isn't long enough.

Gomer had a chance to sign with us, when he was a RFA, but he wanted to go to arbitration and was awarded 5 million. Even then, he wasn't worth it.
Anybody who thought he wouldn't have left for more money is a fool.
I KNEW New York would target him (they went after Elias after all) and I knew he would sign with them.

9 years for #9.
SixStringAddict 04-16-2009, 11:48 PM Part of that comes with playing for the Devils, still the Witness Protection Program of the NHL.
I started cracking up when i read that. Sadly its kind of true though :shakehead
